Don't think the trade is pending a physical.  if it were and he had an issue, it could void the whole thing.  But most of these deals which don't involve massive contract liabilities are done without requiring physicals.

I'm not saying the deal is pending a physical. I just think it might be good practice have your own doctors do one now that he's in the system. I suppose they have his charts now from the Guardians, but it's possible they want their own tests.

Need bullpen depth. I think it is Brzycky time. he's given up runs in one appearance since 6/9. They are throwing him roughly every 3 days, mostly 1 inning. threw 8/6 after 5 days off.

If the idea of just calling up cannon fodder, then it would be Willingham.

I'd say Tena is primarily 3B, but there may be times Vargas is at 3rd and Tena at SS.

likely for 2025, but Vargas is dirt cheap and a veteran leader. I normally don't count veteran leader as all that big, but having one probably matters for a lineup this young. I would not be too surprised if he's back.

Tena did look fine at 3B tonight. If he can play over there, I assume he can play anywhere in the infield. If the bat gives us anything, he can be a solid utility player.

Poor Lipscomb. He better hope Tena starts whiffing or between Tena, Chaparro, and Cayden Wallace that corner of the infield is going to be really busy heading into next Spring, even before counting Brady House sometime next year.

The Nationals are calling up infielder Andrés Chaparro, per multiple sources. Spent 8 yrs. in the minors and now has a chance to make his MLB debut.

Chaparro was acquired for Dylan Floro at the trade deadline. Hitting .328 with 23 homers and a .977 OPS in AAA this year.
