Poor Stone
Of course, Gray has been on the 15 day IL since going out on 4/9. You'd think the Nats could put him on the 60 day IL rather than waive Garrett.

Stone is in the lineup tonight. Did I miss something? Bloop single and strikeout.  Seems to be having a rough year.

The Talk Nats rumor on the previous page that Stone is going to be DFA'd.

Move hasn't happened. They may think that no one is going to burn a 40 man roster spot this year to claim Garrett so they will keep him at Rochester, much like they got away with waiving Kieboom off the 40 man roster.

Sounds like TJS for Josiah. Do it now, Nats. Don't wait, as in Jake Bennett...remember him?

The result is the same, regardless of whether they do it now or a month from now

I believe a little premature. He is not going to Dallas until the All Star break to visit surgeon. I doubt he will pitch again for the Nats this season regardless. I’m comparing him to Joe Ross at this point.

Nunez out?
TheNatsReport said that Nunez was heading to AAA, which would require a deal with Miami.

They really are going to recall Lipscomb the maximum amount of times allowed this season.

I hope he doesn't just sit. Maybe he's at a point where he's going to start spelling CJ and Garcia. Seems Davey never had enough confidence in Nunez to go to him when those guys were playing every day. Maybe Vargas starts to get the majority of time at 3rd and Lip is a utility.

Certainly a better option than Senzel. Not sure why a deal was done with Miami this late.

Per MLBTR, Senzel has been DFA'd. I'm guessing that either Vargas or Lipscomb is going to play 3B every day from here on out.

It's been pointed out that Gata has been right about Vargas since the beginning of June.  In  June, he was ,208 / .212 / .229, and he's been worse in July.

Vargas is a limited player. A useful utility guy to give you some flexibility to pinch hit or pull guys from the field, and can cover when guys get ejected or hurt, and even give a day off.  I like him in some offense situations, like when we need contact, but he's certainly fallen off lately. This will let Vargas do what he does best, which is come off the bench.

Trey is the every day 3rd baseman, probably until House or Morales is called up next year. As long as his arm is OK, his glove is fine, and he can spray the ball against overshifts in the infield.

he was brought in to hit, but since 5/1, over 188PAs, he's .207 / .309 / .299, with 2 HRs. .279 wOBA, and that's also being platooned a bit as of late. Lipscomb has been just as bad offensively this season in MLB, but actually is positive in DRS, UZR, and OAA. Senzel has been a disaster by all those measures. Lip had a solid defensive rep in the minors, too. I think the arm is questionable, but we might as well be kind to our pitchers with some D if we can't score.

no. No deal with Miami yet.

The Senzel DFA creates a 40 man roster slot.
