I think I would have preferred to see Yepez. He's been pretty bad in June though I suppose, but Lipscomb has been even worse, a .591 OPS since being sent down in May.

Are they going to run out of options for Lipscomb?

I'm pretty sure it's only one option used per season, but there is also a maximum number of times a player can be sent up/down in a single season.

Blankenhorn would have been more like for like with Gallo.

Are they going to run Lip out there v rhp? Maybe Vargas?

Yea, I don't get it. Lipscomb is OPSing under .600 in Triple A. Blankenhorn, Garrett, or Adams can all play DH

it may be to play Vargas more. Lip is a young utility.

Which means that Nunez is useless. Need a pinch-hitter? It's Trey. He can play the field after he hits.

I personally want Lipscomb to play every day. We know SEC hitting doesn't auto translate to MLB, but he did hit pretty well in Harrisburg last season. And the glove should be strong. Let's give him some more burn.

It will be interesting to see how often they get Lipscomb in the lineup. Hopefully he's not just the second string utility guy behind EDEP.

Lipscomb not in the lineup again today. Why was he the one called up if they don't plan on playing him? I don't see how this is good for his development.

I agree.

If they need a utility guy to sit on the bench, I'd rather them have Jake Alu on the 40-man and filling that role. Lipscomb has potential, he needs to be playing every day.

the Nats picked up reliever, Eduardo Salazar, who has been waived twice this year by the Dodgers and Mariners and optioned him to AAA. He made 8 appearances with the Reds last year, This means 39 out 40 spots on the 40 man roster are occupied.

technically a minor league signing, but likely to be a quick call up as a righty bat is Harold Ramirez, who the Rays waived earlier this week. When called up, Nats pay MLB minimum. Righty bat. hit .300+ in 2022 and 2023, but this year the average,  power and BB have disappeared.

Harold Ramírez heading to San Diego to join the Nats. Could this be the end of the line for Rosario?

Ramirez was 8-20 at Rochester.

Although Ramirez and Meneses serve the same function, I think Joey is safe. They like the way "Joey Singles" times them for runners in scoring position. They think it is a skill.

It could be as simple as sending Lip down. He's just on the pines and they want him playing. TBH, that's probably the logical move. Vargas can backup / platoon with Senzel at 3rd, and now that Davey's shown some trust in Nunez's glove, I think he backs up the MIs.

depth would look like this for the SD and TB series:

C - Ruiz
1B - Meneses
2B - Garcia
3B - Senzel / Vargas
SS - Abrams
LF - Winker
CF - Young
Rf - Thomas
DH - Ramirez / Rosario

Bench - Rosario, Vargas, Millas, Nunez

I don't understand why he was called up in the first place if they actually want him playing. He's behind Vargas in the utility role depth chart.

I guess their thinking is they were going to play Vargas a lot more, use him as a primary PH when they needed contact, and wanted some flexibility to start him in the right platoon situations. Lip gave them the flexibility to do that while having an insurance policy.

I also think they plan may have been to get Lip more time, with Senzel DH'ng, but they ended up giving more time to Rosario in that slot than the plan. I think they would have been better off with Senzel  DH / Lip 3rd / Rosario bench more often, but it didn't work that way.

Looks the story of Ramirez getting called up isn't accurate. He had posted about it on instagram but i haven't heard anything further.

Harold Ramírez is joining the Nationals in San Diego, per source. The Nationals claimed Ramírez off waivers earlier this month.

Ramirez hit .375 with a .516 OBP in 7 games with Rochester.
