Lol, Lipscomb is just as bad as Senzel :lmao:
Senzel seems to be a bit of a smug jerk, and unless you are George Brett over at 3rd, we don't have time for it.  Lipscomb is limited but we are still trying to find his upside.  Vargas is sticking around because of his versatility and clubhouse leadership.

Lipscomb looks like a competent utility player, handling every inf position last season and this. He hits OK. He has a future in Washington, at some position.

But Nunez is still useless.

Yea, Im wondering if this was an attitude/team harmony thing.

Lipscomb has no upside. He is Vargas' replacement

I heard Charley and Dave say on the radio today Gallo said he is nowhere near coming back.

The Nats will do the nice thing by him and keep him on the roster until he can functionally rehab in the minors. Once Gallo completely stinks it up on his rehab assignment, he will get released.
Or more realistically he probably gets out on the 60-day as soon as he hits 60 days and will stay there the rest of the season, never to play in a Nats uni again. Probably the end of Joey Gallo in MLB honestly.

Gallo was placed on the IL on 6/12. I will guess that, if he hasn't started rehab by the last week of July, then he goes on the 60 day IL when they want to add a player to the roster.

Williams was placed on the IL on 6/4. Similar thought process.

Ouch. Adon might have become a reliever, as Slate suggests, but that leaves a hole in the rotation. Dump Weems to Rochester, sure, but who else starts?

Could be Adon is just here for bullpen assistance since the pen is gassed right now? That could mean Rutledge comes up for Herz' next turn and Adon goes back to Rochester?

Herz's spot comes up on Friday. I suppose they could option him down on Thursday and call up someone to start. Maybe Rutledge or Lord?

Yes. That would give the Nats an extra reliever. Rutledge might have one of his good days, and maybe Lord is for real...

This makes zero sense.   Especially with Nunez still around

Lord pitched on Saturday so he'd be good to go on Friday, but bringing him up would require adding him to the 40-man.  Rutledge last pitched on July 5, so we'll see if he goes Wednesday or not.

The bullpen is gassed and I want to see if Adon can be a long reliever option, we desperately need one. Would be great to see Rutledge get a turn in the rotation, despite his struggles in AAA. Herz will be back at some point soon I'm sure.

strictly to get another arm in the bullpen for a few days. Herz had one more start before  the ASB. i'm guessing plan A is to give him a little break and call up another arm for his Friday start. He could get 10 or so days rest, then do a minor league tune up start, and take his regular turn after the All Star break. Rutledge or Ward could get a shot for the spot start.

With the Senzel DFA, they have an open spot on the 40 man roster, so conceivably Lord could be added. Eduardo Salazar has been used as a  1 inning guy since he was claimed but has pitched well. Could get a call up for Saturday, Sunday, and a few days after the ASB before Herz's turn.

There is a limit on the number of pitchers the 26 man roster can have. So unless Nunez got listed as a pitcher, there is no point in bringing him up.

I will do you one better

Since being moved to the pen on June 25, he has pitched 5.1 innings, given up 3 hits, 2 walks, and 5 strikeouts. No runs.

I think he can be an effective reliever. There is a real possibility he takes one of Weems/Rainey's spots

He freaking sucks. Not necessarily his fault as he was thrown to the wolves in 2022 and lost 12 games before they demoted him. They kept trotting him out there thinking he would get better but he was broken.

A bit surprised he was released. I wonder if there were any issues with him meshing in the clubhouse.

He had that incident with Gore.  I assume with House now at 3B in AAA there's no spot for him (and no hope that he suddenly figures out how to hit).
