It's a dump no doubt... having said that... even with a new stadium, I don't see the fans coming out to the games in St. Pete.

They need to move the team to Tampa, or, move it out of the state.

It was a BS place to stick a team instead of putting them in DC. They wanted Arizona and needed a 2nd.

too bad we can't just swap franchises, put that team here in a pennant race with the yankees and Nats park would be sold out

Terrible stadium in a terrible location. Ask Spinman how many times he goes to the Trop.

Hence why they are bleeding money even with a successful mid-budget team.

All of MLB have to chip in to buy out the lease deal for the Trop.  It is just ridiculous and kills the baseball's goal of having a presence in the FLA.  Move it to Tampa, closer to Orlando, and the franchise can flourish and kick off revenue instead of suck it out.

Juan Uribe just hit his 2nd homer in the same inning (2nd innng).  Giants 10 Cubs 0

The first was a two-run homer the second, a grand slam.

Is anybody watching the Rays-Yankees game? Vasquez has hit about 5 batters in this inning!

Never take the talent of Major League ballplayers for granted. Some players put up poor statistics or look overmatched and yet they are still better than but a fraction of the playing-world’s population. That’s how crazy this game is. The most horrific and heart-bending scene is when a player loses it – ‘it’ being any resemblance of a grip on his talent – during a game. Right there, naked in front of the world.

I’m not sure that Javier Vazquez lost it last night, but he forced the issue.

it's really pathetic, the stadium is way outside of downtown too.  That city is crying out for a retractable roof stadium on the shores of the bay.

If they actually moved to Tampa... and near young people, they'd definitely have more fans come out to the game.

As is, its in the middle of nowhere and it's a dump.

Its difficult drawing fans in a community know as "the worlds largest above ground cemetery" because of the senior population, and where cheap baseball in the form of minor league, college, and other venues have been established since the days of Ty Cobb.

The Gold Glove 1st baseman Adrian Gonzalez just committed TWO errors on the same play.  Someone tweet this to Ladson!

From ESPN's recap:

Quote
After Tejada's hit, rookie Aroldis Chapman came on and struck out Adrian Gonzalez on fastballs clocked at 101, 102 and 103 mph to end the inning. All 25 of Chapman's pitches were 100 mph or faster, topping out at 105 mph.

Umm... Not signing this guy despite being heavily interested in him makes me and baby Jesus cry. Holy ****. All 25, twenty five, twofive, 25!!!! Of his pitches were over 100mph? !!!!! And he topped out at 105?!? This guy is going to be so dominant, so insanely incredible, so... Unhittable once he gets two or three years experience it's going to be painful. Assuming he can manage to not blow his arm out throwing 105, 25/25 pitches for over 100mph, which is hardly a guarantee. Still, just wow.

The only question is how long it takes Dusty to break Chapman.  He's already killed Leake this year and seems intent on getting Aroldis before October no matter what.

I'd agree with that 100%, which is why I included that last comment about blowing his arm out. And that's just on the fact he's throwing every single pitch for over 100mph. Add in the manager who killed Leake in a matter of months? I don't know how anyone could have destroyed such an incredible career so quickly, but Baker did it. When Strasburg came up, it looked like there was a good chance Leake might have been the better pitcher out of last years draft career wise. Add in his hitting, and he was incredible. So having a manager that did what he did with Leake, and a pitcher like Chapman throwing 25/25 100mph pitches? Not exactly a likelihood of a long career there.

Still, 25/25 for 100mph or more? Obviously that's never been done in the 120 years of MLB, and almost certainly won't be again. That's literally unbelievable, that a pitcher could do that physically, and then that they would throw 25 fastballs in a row. Topping out at 105mph on top of it? Freak me is that a historic relief appearance.

Bautista has 50.

That's more than 3 times as many as he's ever hit before. I wouldn't be surprised to see HR's pick up again in the next year or two.

What makes you say that?  You think there's some new PED flying under the radar?

It may a silly/cynical belief but I see Bautista as a test case to see if can be masked or detected by current tests. If he flies under the radar I suspect they will all begin juicing again. Just a theory though.
