Anne Hathaway is going to be Catwoman in the next Batman movie. Not a fan of the casting or the use of that character.

and Tom Hardy as Bane

The only reason I didn't comment on the rest is, this is a public forum. ;)
And also, there are no words for it. Except maybe half of this emoticon :az:

Can I say 2010 was a year for some truly epic films.

The King's Speech may go down as an all time classic.  I can easily see 40 years from now that it will be the one that people reference the way things like Gone With The Wind gets referenced now.

Inception was a mental and visual exercise that pulled off all of it's tricks so well that it holds up on multiple viewings instead of being the usual eye candy movie that loses it's luster over time.

The Social Network is the perfect modern film.  Excellently acted, superbly written, and both timely and timeless in its presentation.

I'm not sure there's been a year in recent memory where 3 films were that good with the likelihood of enduring.  Then there's the phenomenal Toy Story 3 as an almost afterthought.  Damn good film year and several more that were worth talking about.

After "The Fountain" I'm staying away.

"The Fountain" was terrible.  "The Wrestler", however, was really good.  "Black Swan" was interesting, definitely on par with "The Social Network".

The Social Network was my favorite movie of the year. Black Swan was second in my mind though. What a fantastic and riveting piece of art.

Oh yeah.  Black Swan was another Aranofsky brain teaser that I enjoyed tremendously.  Really good movie year.

Social Network is all the things you say, except maybe timeless. For me at least it didn't go deeper than the story it told: all the Great Movies are about deep things, like sacrifice or love power or using comedy as a weapon or whatever, but Social Network was just about a guy letting his friends get caught in the gears of the machine. It was really, really good, and I really liked it, but I won't watch it again year after year.

King's Speech I look forward to seeing, even if I don't expect it to be the new definition of the perfect movie.

And um...... I haven't seen Inception yet.

P.S. Check out "127 Hours" if you get a chance

127 Hours.  Another one that has gotten lost in the sea of good films this year.  Really enjoyed it.  Add the remake of True Grit into the mix as it outshone the original which was very good for its time.

I just hope it doesn't look like "The Net" or "Hackers" in 15 years.

It probably will. Tech keeps going further. I think Facebook will still be here by then (I can see a google/facebook merge or some major crap in the future) but all the tech will look different.

I thought Social Network was good, not great.  Part of it for me was that it came across as a factual retelling of the story, which it wasn't.  It was entertaining enough but that's about it.  Conversely, I loved "The Kings Speech".  Absolutely loved it.  That's one I'd watch regularly.

Social Network will never get old for me... but that's because Zuckerberg's college timeline matches up exactly with my college timeline... so I will always remember where I was when I got an email about something called "The Facebook".

I assume, if I was like my dad... I'd enjoy the movie... but not think of it as a classic in the making. And really, why would he? He has no connection to Facebook, or the memory of college tied into it, as I do.

Just to demonstrate how things change, my kids (college and high school aged) are cooling rapidly on Facebook. They tend to use Skype and use it for more inter-personal communication. Days go by before they update their statuses on Facebook.

The largest growing population of Facebook users is 50+ years of age (I think I remember that statistic correctly).  Neither of my kids has any interest in seeing Social Network. I more of an interest in seeing it than they do.

What was once the environ of the educated youth is aging and now powered by advertisements.

Just to demonstrate how things change, my kids (college and high school aged) are cooling rapidly on Facebook.

I'm 21 and rapidly cooling on Facebook. I only use it to create photo albums so friends in the USA can see what I'm up to. You're right that Facebook is increasingly powered by ads, but it's also commoditizing every element of one's personal description.

What I mean is, you used to join groups describing you, like "I Survived Mr Ormiston's Physics Class" or "The Beethoven Appreciation Society," and you used to have boxes where you could write all your favorite movies/TV/whatever. Now, that's changed: instead, you browse through official pages operated by the TV show, or movie studio, or corporation, and hit "Like" when you like one. Only when I "like" something is it clear to my friends.

So for example, a year ago all my friends could go to my Info and read a list of my ten favorite books. Now what they see is a list of three or four books which have official pages - ie, you click on the book, you get an official summary of its contents, a cover photo, and an ISBN number so you can go to Amazon and buy it.

I've just noticed while writing this post that I used to have an "interests" box that said "reading, writing, walking, baking desserts, finding new Turkish restaurants, Washington Nationals baseball" or something like that, but the "interests" box has been changed without my permission to say "The Economist, The New York Times, Petrucci Music Library, Roger Ebert"! When I decided to change it back, I typed in "Wri" and was offered a choice between "Writing", "Reading & Writing," or "Writer." So you can't just make up your own unique interests anymore.
