My friends and I played the "Trapped in the Closet" drinking game today...

I have to say I was pretty impressed by R. Kelly. The movie may have been over the top and he kept the same beat throughout the whole movie - not to mention the plot was twisty and somewhat predictable - but the lyrics/writing was well done. The first half of the film was awesome yet the second half got out of hand. I still enjoyed it and was happy in respects to enjoying myself and being surprised at the film. I still think R. Kelly is an awesome singer. He and Usher need to do more crap together.

This post made me laugh so hard.

Sorry, used to dig Smith, now he's just played out.  Actually he's been played out since "Clerks" and "Batman: Cacophony" wasn't all that great.  Grant Morrison he's not.  Besides, I'd rather not have Batman crapting on people...

Forgetting Sarah Marshall was on again last night on some cable channel, in between clips of the movie they showed clips from the "behind the scenes" sections of the DVD.  No matter how many times I watch that movie it's still funny.

That's because Jason Segel is comedy gold. People focus on
<----------------
but Jason Segel is the one who really carries How I Met Your Mother. His screenplay and vulnerability elevated Sarah Marshall to a whole different level of funny.

The list of nominations.

I'd like to see The Social Network or Inception win best picture. I haven't seen every movie but those were the two I enjoyed most last year.

I would be pretty pumped to see Eisenberg win Best Actor as well. I've always thought he was underrated as an actor.

I'm surprised Renner is in consideration for Supporting Actor. I think Bale has this spot won though.

I saw Inception, The Kings Speech, Toy Story 3 and The Social Network.  Kings Speech was my favorite.  Not sure it was the best one, but it was easily my favorite.  Inception and TS3 would probably be next for me.

We need to get an Oscar contest going.

Winner gets a nice custom made avatar?

Anyone interested?

Colin Firth is pretty much instantly going to win best actor, which is a bit of a pity, because James Franco in "127 Hours" was freakily, amazingly intense, and got into that character so deep it made you nearly sick. Plus, he was alone on screen for about an hour of movie.

If you are a movie person like I am, some of my favorite movies are classics, but if you haven't seen them - rent them, if you can. Any Akira Kurosawa...(spelling)..Japanese movie - The Seven Samuri (Magnificent Seven movie was based on the Seven Samuri movie), Ran, or any that he made, are classic battle/warrior movies with deep symbolism.
One movie that will shake you up - "The Mist" -it have some indirect lessons to be learned on human nature, etc.
There is another movie that has to do with contamination that had a twist at the end, but I can't think of the name of it right now, it came out last year, and was a Independent film.......I'll come back to it......

Forgot that The Kids Are All Right and Winter's Bone were this year.  Fantastic film year.  10 films I truly enjoyed but I think King's Speech wins it.  That's the one with the chance to be talked about as a classic 30-40 years from now.

Lead actor is loaded.  Haven't seen Blutiful but the other 4 are magnificent performances.

Matt Damon should have been nominated for supporting actor.

If Portman doesn't win best actress then every Oscar voter who picked someone else should be publicly executed.  It's not even close this year.

I'd like to see Hailee Steinfeld walk away with supporting actress as her role makes or breaks True Grit.

Restrepo should win the documentary group but Exit Through the Gift Shop was very good as well.

Ran is incredible.

Great movie.  I'd say Kurosawa and Herzog are my 2 favorite directors.

For me it's Kurosawa, Mamet, and Ferrara.

Sadly, actor/actress awards are reserved for older people who should have won before but didn't. It's self-perpetuating. When she's 48 Natalie Portman will win the Oscar she deserved for Black Swan.

It is a case of accidental art. The first half is sublime because they were so serious about it. The later ones are goofy and not as good. I like to walk around sing-narrating my day, however.

Explain Halle Berry.  She fits none of those requirements.

I'm sure I could find a way to make it fit.

Wait, what?
