So is that bad? Are you saying that it was supposed to be serious but it came off cheesy? Or is it still worth seeing?

oh its an awesome movie. totally worth seeing.

its just that there was much more humor than i expected there to be.

I think all Cohen brothers movies have a streak of humor.

I heard the movie is supposed to be very true to the book. I haven't seen the movie yet, or read the book yet, but I will do both now that I know the book isn't like the lame John Wayne version.

True Grit was one of the funniest movies I have seen in a few months.

I thought it was supposed to be like real super serious, artsy Oscar-bait snobby type stuff....

but I was rolling throughout the whole movie.

I don't think it's anything like Nic Cage's Wicker Man... One of, if not the greatest unintentionally funny movies of all time.

The original, like the Maiden song, is excellent.

I do recommend the Nic Cage version, though... it's so funny, you can't help but laugh.

Vince Vaughn's Wild West Comedy Show.

Really wish I had watched this earlier.  Excellent stuff.  Didn't realize this is what launched John Caparulo.

Just watched a french movie last night, A Very Long Engagement, starring Audrey Tautou and Marion Cotillard.  Excellent film about five French soldiers sentenced to death in the "no man's land" of trench warfare during WWI.

Yeah, the recent seasons of HIMYM where Robin gets really desperate and dresses slutty have been glorious. Although (I rush to defend myself) because she's funnier that way; Robin wasn't all that funny at first.

I don't know what it is but I think robin was hotter back in the day.  Don't get me wrong, as tony soprano would say I wouldn't kick her out of bed for fudge and cookies.
