They just traded Josh Naylor. Feel almost as bad for Guardians fans as I do for Nats fans. I’m happy to pass on the ghosts of Goldschmidt and Santana. Just put Yepez there and see what he can do if you’re not getting someone like Walker or Alonso.

Aging like a fine wine. Or maybe a cheap wine.

He’s stepping on the gas, but Lerner removed the spark plugs

Nobody want's to come to this dumpster fire...and I can't really blame them...I don't even want to go...

We'd all be better off if the Lerner's just scheduled 81 concerts every season.  No baseball...just concerts...

Other than Alonso I’m not sure there’s a FA option now that’s better than Yepez :(

There's Justin Turner, Mark Canha, and Josh Bell for 1st, and Joc and Winker for DH. I'll ignore Santander and Hernandez, and JuPro. I'd say Joc would still be a good pick up, even if he's only a long side of a platoon DH. as for the first basemen, Turner is old but is a neutral 1B over 800+ innings, 600 the last 2 years. Technically, Turner may be better than Yepez next year, but I'd rather see Yepez or Chappy. Bell might be productive vs righties.

Joc and Winker are better than Yepez. But the others .... not really

I'd like a lefty bat, but as it is, there's Wood / Abrams / Garcia / Tena as lefties, and Crews/ Young / Chappy / Yepez from the right side. Joc would help when facing a righty.

We simply do not have enough offense to justify not signing a Winker type.

Hell, you could even put Chapparo at 3B against lefties

I think the lineup could use a righty hitting 3rd baseman. Figure Lowe is full time 1b. Tena, Chappy, and Yepez split dh and 3rd. Bregman would fit really well as the Werth signing if they were willing. Short of that, I don't see great options.

Joc Pederson is signing with the Rangers  :(

What power bats are left at this point besides Alonso (who I'm assuming the Nats are out on after the Lowe trade)?

The Lerners have to be pushing for a sale this year. Lerner has not added a nickel in guaranteed money for the 2026 season in an offseason where people were convinced that we were going to start competing. No a single cent

Lowe is controlled through 2026.  So that is $10 million plus.

Zero guaranteed. The only player payroll liabilities are Ruiz and what’s left of Scherzer

Only the Marlins are spending less on active arb-eligible players and free agent-eligible veterans.

Soroka and Lowe would also be easy deadline flips, giving the org. a shot at being dead last in active spending.

santander and Teoscar, unless they signed today. Gleyber deserves a bit of love. Randal Grichuk hits lefties well and might be a good get if you think Chappy can play the short side of a platoon at 3rd. Paul DeJong has pop and plays 3rd, but is pretty low average and OBP.

At this point, let's just give Yepez a long tryout. Nothing to lose. Clearly, ownership has zero desire to field a competitive team. Payroll really can't get any lower, so hopefully they will sell to the highest bidder.
