I'm a little more optimistic with almost three months to go before OD. Weren't their several Boras clients who didn't sign almost to the end of ST and one who didn't sign until the season started?  Isn't Alex Bregman a Boras client? I'm hoping that Rizzo's strategy is to sign Bregman toward the end of February at a more "reasonable" contract that make sense in terms of dollars and years than what the Astros are offering. Again , I'm not sure about the Boras clients and signing dates last season.

I like this line up and could see a 81 plus win season.

Crews
Abrams
Wood
Bregman
Lowe
Bell
Garcia
Ruiz
Young

I'd still love to see them sign Santander and shift Crews to CF and Young to the 4th OF role.

Just listened to the call up podcast where they redrafted the 2020 draft. Parker went 29th

well, it's 4 years in, and it looks like he's a rotation regular in MLB. I would think there's a lot of 2020 1st rounders who aren't going to have as good of a career. He went #153 as the 22d pick in the 5th round. We took Cavalli in the 1st round (#22), Cole Henry in the 2d (55th), Samuel Infante (comp 2d round #71), Holden Powell (3d, #94), and Brady Lindsly (C, 4th, 123). The latter was a $20K signing.  Parker was a below slot signing ($100K, when slot was $346,800). This was just a 5 round draft. Nats also signed Brzykcy as a undrafted free agent that year.

Infante I think is the only one out of the organization now. Lindsly is AAA depth. Powell needs a control breakthrough, Henry and Cavalli need health.

At this point, I would be happy with Winker, Floro, and AJ Minter.

Camerato speculates that Minter would be a good fit:
https://www.mlb.com/nationals/news/nationals-2025-season-lookahead
Quote
One (realistic) FA target who would still be a perfect fit: LHP A.J. Minter
Minter is coming off an injury-hampered season with the Braves in which he was limited to 39 games and underwent left hip surgery in August. The 31-year-old has a proven track record in the back of the bullpen, going 24-29 with a 3.28 ERA and 36 saves in 348 2/3 innings over his eight-year career.
suggests he'd be a mentor and take pressure off Ferrer. fWIW, FG crowd source speculates 1 year, $5 million.

Him and Chris Martin (RHP, Corwd sourced at 1 year, $7 million) would be an interesting way to fill out the bullpen.

I tried to get into their main podcast but the gambling ads were too much for me.

Not on Effectively Wild! Not your typical baseball podcast though.

BiD, Nats Chat, Baseball Today, Bustin Loose ... all have ads, and they're usually gambling ones.

Baseball Today is the other one I listen to occasionally. It does have one gambling ad each episode but I find it less intrusive than the ones on Just Baseball.

I listed Nats Chat already, that's the only one I'm aware of that is Nationals focused. The rest are more focused on a national level, hmm, major league level  :)

This team really needs to find a closer. I hear Finnegan is still available.

Quibbles on the bench:

Garrett should be in the mix for back up OF and platoon DH. With both Crews and Wood capable of playing center, Call's ability to play there doesn't give him that much of an edge.

I think the Rosario signing hurts Baker, Nunez, and Lipscomb's shot at the bench.  Figure Rosario, a catcher, an OF, and one bat. Bell's ability to play 1st makes it not necessary to carry Yepez or Chaparro. Could go with 2 OFs (Call, Garrett).

That looks like a team that will comfortably finish 4th in the division. Should be good enough to get the coaching staff and front office extensions

I'm still thinking their record doesn't improve and yet we'll still extend the entire coaching staff at the end of the year.

FWIW, I don't see anyone else on the 40-man that is an easy DFA candidate if we sign someone else or if someone else makes it to the majors as a spring training invite. Maybe Amos Willingham?

i keep forgetting to add Garrett in as an option. Thanks!

Gore agrees to terms, no details yet. Law agrees to $2.75M.

Still to finalize: Lowe, Garcia Jr., Gray,.
