If the hen has salmonella, isn't it present inside the egg?

Scrambled, overhard, hard boiled are all hot enough to kill the germies anyway, I think.

Has anyone ever stopped to realize that when we eat eggs, we're eatting the chicken's period?

So, I have to give up over-easy because the FDA is too cowardly to require all hens be vaccinated, at a cost of less than $0.01 per egg?

Well, is it not an unfertilized egg?

Pasteurization is supposed to work for eggs, but only 1% get it.  Beats overuse of antibiotics.  when I take a fluoroquinolone, I want it to work.

My favorite is eggs over extra-hard, so I prefer no antibiotics.

I don't think the vaccinations are antibiotics, are they?

Besides, around 50% of hens in the US are vaccinated already, so you've been eating them already.  It's the other 50% that are probably causing the problems.  In the UK, salmonella poisoning has been nearly eradicated through vaccination.

We buy organic, vegetarian-fed, antibiotic-free, free range eggs, or Amish eggs, which are basically the same. The taste difference is extremely noticeable.

I buy my turkey once a year at the Germantown amish market, but it's quite a bit out of the way for me now.  There aren't any such markets in northern va to my knowledge.

Kensington, Rockville, and Garrett Park Saturday farmers' markets all have Amish/Mennonite farmers.

Maybe we should have a blind tasting.

Brown or white
Amish or not
Salmonella or not

See what the winning combination is.

I probably left out a few variables.  Free range or 24/7 henhouse?  Organic vs. hormones.

I'll have to my local grocer has them.  It's not in the best part of town.  Going green and organic isn't exactly that big of a deal.

This should be split off, but you guys should read Fast Food Nation and watch Food, Inc. I blame corporate factory farming for all these outbreaks, no question. The chickens literally cannot move at a factory farm. The Amish guys drink raw milk and they are fine.

My parents bought us some of the good eggs when we visited, and they liked the taste so much that's all that they buy now. Organic bananas are the other must have for me. The men who harvest bananas get chemical burns and become sterilized by the pesticides, and the organic ones taste sweeter.

Brad Lidge just balked in the tying run in the bottom of the 9th in San Diego and they're going into extra innings.

...in other words, Brad Lidge lays an egg on the mound, salmonella-filled, no doubt.

There's a lot of Philly fans even in San Diego.  Just call it Citizen Bank Park West.
