Are you sure its not just a regional game?

Fox tends to have four or five regional games running a week.

For example, here in Richmond we're getting the Cubs/Cardinals... not the Orioles/Rays.

In NJ, I'm getting the Ray/O's.

I wish they provided a weekly coverage map like ABC does for college football.

Josh Hamilton just hit an opo field bomb and they played the music from the Natural when Roy Hobbs hits the ball into the lights (which is one of the most ridiculous scenes in a pretty good movie I can think of).  I haven't seen a ton of the Rangers before this week.  I wonder if they do this for any of the other players.  Rangers down 2 in the 9th with a runner on.  Oh, the drama!

Wait, never mind.  Vlad just made a bone head base running play and might have run them out of the inning/game.

(edit) Yep, strike out of the batter to end it...

Hamilton is the biggest freak I've ever seen on a baseball field. Amazing athlete.

He's gonna make a gazillion, kajillion dollars if/when he hits the FA market.  I'm sure the rangers will do everything they can to lock him up for the next decade.

I'm always worried that he's a ticking time bomb... specifically how can the guy ever take drugs if he has a surgery... wouldn't that send him right back into a tailspin?

Maybe.  Always have to be wary of that.  From what I've heard though, he's put a lot of safeguards in his life to help keeping that from happening, but it doesn't always work, take for instance the incident in Arizona a while back.

Rangers broadcast crew is a lot of fun, btw.  I think the guy lost a bet or something.  They lowered the price of hot chocolate to a dollar.  He's paying for hot chocolate for anyone who wants it.  There's random people coming up to the broadcast booth, while the game's going on, which is right over a walk way behind the plate and he's handing out singles to whoever shows up.  The mascot came up with a group of 5 kids so he's tossing piles of bills at a time.

Greenberg and Ryan lowered prices for food, tickets, and parking. Fantastic

Greenberg is making his way around the park.  He's in the bleachers right now signing autographs.

Michael Young just hit a 3 run bomb about 4 rows in front of where the Greenberg was hanging out.  That was awesome.

maybe the Pirates were on to something when they blew up the team last year, Alvarez and Tabata appear to be the real deal.  If they get some pitching they could be dangerous.

McDonald is carving folks up as well. 20/3 K/BB rate.

Always trade with the Dodgers. They give you great value for your scraps.

I'll go to hell solely for this, and I want to make it clear I am not making light or fun of this in any way. But reading ESPN's recap of tonights NYY DET game:

Quote
The Yankees started their Hope Week, with every player taking part in events that highlight family and community outreach. Mariano Rivera, Teixeira and Swisher were among the Yankees who enjoyed a pool party at the New Jersey home of 13-year-old Jorge Grajales, who was born in Panama and had all four limbs amputated because of a childhood illness. Grajales watching batting practice behind the cage, stretched on the field with Rivera and threw out the first ball.

Err, does that not make sense to anyone else? He threw out the first ball? What a horrible situation for someone so young, and props to the Yankees for giving him a day he'll always remember.

Add in Walker at 2B, McCutcheon in CF, McDonald looking good, Lincoln as a mid rotation ceiling SP who just got there and signing Taillon and Neal Huntington is close to putting a good team together there in 3.5 years.

All of whom he'll need to trade in 4 years.

Nah.  The new owners there had to get rid of a bad GM that they inherited.  Sounds eerily familiar.  They'll move guys like LAST PLACE MILLEDGE and Garrett Jones but I wouldn't be surprised if Tabata, Alvarez, Walker, McCutcheon, McDonald and Taillon are all there 6-7 years from now.

I really hope so. My family up there is dying for a successful team.

In recent years, their dump-offs have mostly made sense. Nate McLouth was a great move, he's in like AAA right now. They got one of SF's top SP prospects (forget who) for Sanchez as well.
