Nah, my parents and I split a big bottle of this:

Which is far too classy to get more than an awesome buzz off of. But hey ... it tasted SO DARN GOOD.

Oswalt grounds out to end it with the tying run at first. Phillie is phucked. Night game tomorrow, then a day game, then a west coast trip. This five and a half hour affair, using every player save three starters, one relief pitcher throwing almost sixty pitches, and Friday nights starter playing LF for a couple innings... It's going to hurt them bad in their race with Atlanta. I'd go so far as to say tonights game spells the end of their division race so long as Atl doesn't tank, and possibly their wild card chances as well. A game like this, with a night then day then west coast road trip with no off days against a team that's been somewhat struggling of late? It's what ends seasons.
In theory, but I wouldn't be shocked if they rally around it and make a run.  I'm pullin' hard for the Braves, but they've got to take advantage of games like this and they didn't the past two nights.  I think the Braves could be looking back at it just as much as the Phils could.

Dusty Baker is fighting Manuel for the worst manager award.

Wow. I just don't know what to say about Leake, and by proxy Baker. That team is lucky it's got some major talent. First they blow someone I still believe will be phenomenal in Micah Owings, to the point he's no longer part of the organization. And now Leake, who in June people were believing might be superior to Strasburg, is not only in the bullpen but giving up six runs in a third of an inning in his first relief appearance? ... Something isn't right in Cincinnati, and still they're likely to walk away with the playoffs.

Phils will win the division.  They have so much more talent than the Braves.

I tend not to judge pitchers on one outing. I don't think Leake is dead in the water because he had a bad appearance in the bullpen.

Maybe it's just me... but I'm not willing to say his career is over, already.

Did Leake get injured or just start pitching terribly?

Rushing pitchers straight to the majors is a bad, bad idea.

Epic choke job by the Braves.  Lost a 10-1 lead.  This is the kind of loss that will end a season.

Wow.  Now the Reds blow the same 10-1 lead.  Unreal.

But at least he isn't wimpy and counting innings and the like.  Dusty likes a kid to man up.

A new low for the Nationals...and they're not even on the field.

The Astros finish off a sweep of the Phillies at CBP.  The Nationals couldn't sweep the Phillies, certainly not at CBP, even if half their team was laid up from eating salmonella-tainted eggs...and the other half of the team was playing...after eating salmonella-tainted eggs.

Sorry, but I see that more as an indictment on the Phils than on the Nats.  There's no shame in losing to the Phils (to Halladay and Oswalt at that) in Philly.  Let's give kudos to the Astros, not kick the Nats.

It can be both, an indictment on the Phillies and the Nationals.  Big picture this.  What are the chances the Nationals would sweep a series, four game series at that, against the Phillies?  What is the set of circumstances that the Nationals would win four consecutive games against the Phillies?  It's clearly possible because the Astros just did it but how could we?  Four consecutive times, we'd have to hit their pitching and/or stop them from hitting ours.  We'd have to not commit errors or other blunders and/or force them into some.  In short, we'd have to play winning baseball for 4 straight games against a team that we have difficulty beating under any circumstances, a team that has little expectation that they won't beat us because they've done it so frequently.

That's the indictment against the Nationals.  It shouldn't be so difficult to sketch out a scenario in which the Nationals sweep a series against the Phillies at Citizens Bank Park.

And what were the odds that the Astros were going to go in there and sweep them in a 4 game series at that?  Pretty small odds.  Baseball's a bizzare game.  Comparing coulds and shoulds is a rather futile effort.  We'd already beaten Oswalt pretty badly twice this year, he's too good a pitcher to let that happen again.  The indictment isn't on the Nats that they lost a series in Philly, it's that Philly got swept by the Astros.

Not sure where to put this and don't want to start a new thread, but the Minor league schedules for 2011 are out.  Curious when the new MLB schedules might surface for 2011.  Hoping they return the trip to KC and possibly Chicago.

If the hen has salmonella, isn't it present inside the egg?
