TBH, I feel kind of bad for Blankenhorn. The guy is the classic AAAA hitter. He crushes in the minors and has not been able to get balls to drop or go out in the majors. He had a 3 week run and just did not impress. He may continue like this either here or with another organization for a few more years, but it's hard to imagine much more. For his sake, I hope his next call up he goes on one of those hot streaks everyone from Call to Adams to Meneses go on to make him seem like something.

The fact that he can't play any position sure doesn't help him.

Thats gotta be it for Adams, right? I wonder if they can trade him for a reliever in the offseason . . .

Pattern is they send down a catcher, they rake, gets called up, has one or two decent games, then stinks enough to get swapped out

They don't seem to have ever been serious at testing him out at 1B in Rochester, since he only had 26 innings there vs. 135 at catcher.

I'll never understand why they didn't give him a week at 1B and hitting every day. They started talking about in early 2022 when it was clear Josh Bell would be traded.

I know it was unlikely he'd ever be more than an okay backup C who can run into a ball occasionally, still why not test that assumption after he had a .800+ OPS in 140 ABs last season?

Because 140 at bats is a small sample size?

Yes. You're right. "Test that assumption" makes it pretty clear I'd like to put him in a place where he could get extended at bats. And I even pointed out I don't think he would be much more than he is. But a plus of being terrible if you get to try things you wouldn't with a winning team.

Ribalta back up. Adon to the 15 day IL with a biceps strain.

we get to add a pitcher and position player when rosters expand. Zach Brzykcy is on the 40-man and has arguably earned a call-up. Lipscomb probably gets the call as the position player though it sure would be nice to see Baker (he's not on the 40-man so that's probably not going to happen).

I'd love to see Gallo put on waivers today or tomorrow!

Barring that, it's probably Lips coming back up with Brzykcy.

I think he will see time in cf vs some RHP in place of Young. Maybe Garcia DHs vs some righties or even Wood dhs

Huh, that’s an odd call up . Confused where he plays. I assumed they’d call up two relievers or a reliever plus Meneses.

I really wonder where he plays since I don’t want them benching Chaparro or Tena for him. Garcia is hitting and Baker isn’t a platoon partner for him. Wood is in LF and I’m not sure if they’d bump Wood to RF or try to sneak Baker into RF to put Crews in center.

If he shows anything up here, Lipscomb 40 man slot looks shaky.

I think Garcia may dh v some righties rather than Gallo. It probably does squeeze some time from Chappy and Yepi, too.

They really do owe him a call on his roster status this year

Meneses hasn't played well since.being optioned. He would be the first guy jettisoned off the 40-man before Trea. Also, Vargas won't be here forever and if your Utility players are Trea and Baker, that might not be the end of the world.

I only listed Meneses because who cares if he rides bench? These other guys, I want them out there playing every day.
