Rico Garcia to 15 day IL with tendonitis. Willingham returns.

Quote
RHP Rico Garcia (right biceps tendinitis)
Expected return: August
Garcia was placed on the IL on July 30, retroactive to July 29. He joined the Nationals from the Triple-A Red Wings on July 19, and he has pitched to a 12.00 ERA in three innings out of the bullpen. (Last updated: July 30)

RHP Carl Edwards Jr. (right shoulder inflammation)
Expected return: Second half
Edwards is expected to throw a sim game on July 28. The late-inning reliever has made 32 appearances this season, with a 3.69 ERA across 31 2/3 innings. (Last updated: July 27)

RHP Thaddeus Ward (right shoulder inflammation)
Expected return: Second half
Ward is rehabbing at the Nationals' training complex in Florida. He is throwing at a distance of 105 feet, and he is slated to throw a bullpen session of fastballs and changeups on July 28. The Nats are being cautious, given his injury history and the fact that he underwent Tommy John surgery in 2021. (Last updated: July 27)

Reliever Carl Edwards Jr., sidelined with right shoulder inflammation, should throw in another simulated game Tuesday in West Palm Beach, Fla. Reliever Tanner Rainey, recovering from Tommy John surgery, is expected to do the same. Reliever Hunter Harvey, out with a right elbow strain, was going to play catch at Nationals Park on Monday.

I suppose this may be a showcase for Edwards.

Seems a slender chance to trade Edwards if this is the showcase.

Harvey - threw 120 feet Wednesday as he works on strengthening.

Rainey, Ward - threw bullpens Friday.

Suave Rico Garcia will be heading to West Palm as he recovers from tendinitis.

Talks about his rehab.

Quote
Cavalli recently regained full range of motion in his right arm, which means he is able to do mundane things such as brush his teeth and put on a T-shirt without issue. Now, he looks to incorporate strength during the next phase of recovery. He has already used weighted bands for flexibility and strengthening the muscles surrounding his shoulder. Even in just a short time, he has noticed progress.

“I’ve been doing a little bit of bench presses, biceps and triceps extensions and curls, just developing that muscle back and adding strength,” Cavalli said.

Rainey and Irvin have been talking him through the recovery process, with Irvin emphasizing developing consistent shoulder loosening routines.

Aug. 10: RHP Hunter Harvey, RHP Tanner Rainey to throw to hitters at Nationals Park
Harvey (right elbow strain) and Rainey (Tommy John surgery) are slated to face batters as part of their rehabs when the Nationals return home from Philadelphia on Friday. Harvey has been with the team on the two-city road trip, while Rainey has been at the Nats' training complex in West Palm Beach, Fla.

"For Rainey, it's going to be around 35, 40 pitches," manager Dave Martinez said Thursday. "For Harvey, we'll try to get him three outs. If he does it fairly quick, we'll probably get him about 20, 25 pitches."

Yes. To a point.

It's super heavy on sodium, more than needed in most cases, and has potassium and magnesium but in lower quantities than most people need.  Not even going into the trace minerals.  So it's probably okay at times but better electrolyte options available.  I do like taking a tablespoon or more of sauerkraut juice daily, really help with digestion.  Kind of plays in the same arena as other fermented vegetables like kimchi, etc.

Like I said, to a point. You can't drink it 20 minutes before exertion, but if you incorporate it into your diet in the hours/days before, it'll be good.

You could also just salt food to taste and eat a banana

Davey:
- Mason Thompson throws a sim game on Tuesday
- Hunter Harvey about ready to return
- Tanner Rainey has one more bullpen and then will likely head to Fredricksburg
- No real news on Adon, still trying to figure out his issues
