Realmuto can't stay healthy? :lmao:

Third most games of any catcher in the last three seasons. :lmao:
He's not a Nat yet bandwagon boy. We shall see.

WTF? What bandwagon? I don't want them to trade for Realmuto. I'm not willing to give up Robles and Keiboom for this two more seasons of Realmuto. Not because Realmuto isn't worth the prospects, but because this team's window is closing unless they sell at the deadline.

Is Realmuto the only good catcher left on the planet or am I missing something?

Sources indicate the Marlins and Nationals remain in discussions in a trade for JT Realmuto. Execs from both teams together in Miami. Nats are now willing to part with Victor Robles for JT as @JonHeyman & @JoeFrisaro noted. (1/2)

Jon Heyman; Nats are now willing to part with Victor Robles for JT.

If they view Soto as the real deal and resigning Harper is doable along with Eaton under team control then why not trade a 4th outfielder for a significant upgrade at catcher.

That means MAT or Harper in CF

Isn't Heyman almost always wrong?

Soto seems destined for 1B eventually. Eaton seems to be hurt every year.  OF could be thin unless Harper stays. Which I don't think will happen.

Good for him. He was blocked. I hope he excels.

Of those 2 I only mentioned Harper.  Under this scenario MAT would continue as the 4th outfielder.

I don’t know why Robles is suddenly expendable. He should be untouchable. Off limits in all trade discussions. Nobody in their right mind would trade Soto, so why would you consider trading Robles? Robles is the better all around player. He’s the CF of the future.

There’s no reason to cave to the Marlins demands. There has to be other serviceable catchers available. Nats don’t need an all star at catcher. They just need someone better than Wieters. A guy like Kurt Suzuki would be perfect. Or bring back Ramos.

Agree. Robles seems like the real deal based on last September and his tools. Why upgrade catcher to downgrade the OF. No hurry to make this trade. If you keep Robles and Soto you can pick up a half decent catcher. Look at how good Sandy Leon does in Boston. The Marlins are just trying to make up for the bad deals they made in the offseason. Call their bluff. If someone else wants to pay that price for Realmuto let them.

No one is untouchable. EVER.

Robles has already been in a deal once.

That was when they thought they would keep Harper. Way back when Harper was good.

Honestly, trade everyone and I'll enjoy watching the rest of the season stress-free. In 2015 the Yankees sold at the deadline when they were middling and then were fun as hell to watch as young guys took over once called up. I know I'd rather watch Eaton, Soto, Turner, Max, Stras & any players we trade for playing stress-free over this crappy team.

^^ This. We have enough young talent to make a couple of FA signings and be right in the thick of the division race in 2019. There's no reason to lose 6 year of Victor Robles or Carter Kieboom in order to try to salvage this season.

I'm not opposed to trading for Realmuto; he is under team control for a few more years. In fact, I'd be fine trading for Realmuto and then trading Harper, Murphy, Madson, Wieters, etc. :stir:

I'd love it if they had a "Blow it Up Day." I'm not a hater, but the chance to restock with what you get for Harper, Murphy, Gio, Madson, Kelley, Herrera, Adams, Wieters, and Reynolds has me more excited than pushing for a wild card.  Where I differ from Slate, UMD, and few others is that I think the transition  core is already here in Soto, Turner, Eaton, Robles, Scherzer, and the Orchid. I'd even see what the market is for Taylor.  Keep Rendon if you can, figure out the right side of the infield, and you have a nice lineup even before you see what you get back from moving a lot of help to contenders.  That isn't even a complete white flag this year.  Yes, the lineup is unproven, but so are your rivals.  There's probably a couple of these pieces you don't / can't move (Reynolds will not bring back a boat load, maybe you hold onto a Murphy if you expect to offer him a QO), and those can maybe help you make the wild card game or even win the division.

The White Sox did that in 1979...
