Honestly, if they trade only Harper, they're winning the division. Book it.

I don't disagree

Hate to break up another Harper hate thread, but if Nats are insistent on starting Zim then they need to trade Reynolds. He won't fetch a top quality prospect, but he could fetch something useful. A midlevel prospect is more useful than a three headed logjam at first.

I don't understand why some of you insist that if you don't drop to your knees to swallow a player's cock then you must hate the player.

How many catchers have done what Realmuto is doing with the bat? He's 5th in wRC+ among catchers the last ten years. 3rd in OPS. He's on pace for a 6 WAR season, which puts him in  the top 5. That list has two MVP seasons and a future HoFer in it. Finding a catcher who can hit and durably catch behind the plate is basically the holy grail of position players. Literally every club in MLB is looking for one right now.

I don’t disagree with you. But Catchers are also injury prone and can fall off a cliff at any time. I do not believe you trade two top 35 MLB prospects for 2 years of one.

There's no logjam. No one reasonably thinks Reynolds should start.

Reynolds would return nothing in a trade. He started the year in Triple A. No one wanted him. Asdrubal Cabrera netted a mid level prospect.

Should the Nats take a look at Greg Holland?

Nope. He’s just not good right now and every single guy in our pen is better than he is, plus we have Glover and Suero if we need them.

They are in a bind and have to trade Harper, Rizzo won't want to get a 4th round supplemental pick for him.  Trade Harper and go with an OF of Eaton/Taylor/Soto, with Robles likely up soon as well.

oh, please, please, please, please, please !!!

Apparently talks started and stopped again for JT. Stopped because Miami wants both Robles and Kieboom for JT.

Ridiculous demand.  I have a feeling Miami would accept either of those guys, but Rizzo doesn't want to part with any of the "big three".

It's not ridiculous. And Rizzo has been willing to part with one of them before.

Marlins management is getting way too greedy.  They have no leverage whatsoever.  JT will fester in Miami thru 2020 if Miami management doesn't lower their demands.  Same for Justin Bour.

Trade both Kiebooms plus prospects for Realmuto. Not Robles.

I've seen a number of reports that suggest Miami Management think JT will sign a long term contract for Miami this offseason. Do they know something we don't or just bluffing?

Miami won't be good for many years, beyond what JT is signed for. Why JT would agree to play on a losing team for the next 4+ years is something I can't understand. He apparently wanted gone months ago and quieted down after.

Both JT and Jeter know that a longer contract make him a much more attractive trade target. For Miami, this means getting a nicer haul in return value, and for JT this means getting traded to a good, young team that is ready to compete  (otherwise they wouldn’t #1 have a stocked farm and #2 be willing to start emptying it), as opposed to a contender who may have one last shot.

They have the talent. Anything they'd settle for now they can settle for in the offseason. You dont give up Realmuto without getting at least a 60 grade prospect.

He wouldn't be a free agent until 2021. I don't think he will ever be much higher than he currently is.

Yeah, but wouldn’t a long term contract that’s attractive in trade also have to be cheap? If he’s making 20+ million it’s not as attractive and if it’s less than that he might want to wait for a payday...

Only because the White Sox said no. Robles is absolutely available for the right deal.

Yeah heard it on the radio. Real can't stay healthy. If they give up Robles and another top prospect Rizzo will be in trouble. Nats aren't deep enough for the playoffs imo. Let's be real here. You act like he is going to save the nats. Pitching isn't good enough and should be the main focus. The list for his injuries keep piling up. It's always something. If the Marlins get Robles and another prospect who will contribute, and you will see jt realmuto on the DL and you can book it. I expect you to whine that they should have kept a 21 year old Robles. Bryce will be gone, and Realmuto will be injured (like he always is). Catchers as they get older become more injury. You can book what I said.

Third most games of any catcher in the last three seasons. :lmao:
