I picked Michael A. Taylor in N2P's pool to have the most RBIs on the upcoming road trip.     Don't let me down Michael A. Taylor.    I wanna like you.   I really do.

He had a great game against the last O's game too. Streaky guy..

He's been pretty good since Eaton went out. I'd like to see his strikeout rate go down, but I do think his swing and his eye are getting slightly better.
He's got a better average than Turner does. And I love Turner, but we don't have a whole lot of MLB experience with him to know what's real yet.
That being said, they will probably both revert back to their career means. But these guys are at the age where changemos not outside the realm of possibility.

He seems to be a lot better at home.

He's filling the Danny Espinosa spot in our lineup right now. Defense, speed, occasional power streaks, lots of Ks. If he could just strike out less and get on base a little bit more, it'd be an upgrade.

Is there any chance that his early season swoon had something to do with his father passing away? I know that my work would suffer for a few weeks if that happened to me.
Could it be that his improvement is due to that being in his rear view combined with regular playing time?

It's not like he had a track record of consistency before that. Regardless, unfair to speculate.

.418 BABIP has a lot to do with the average and the slugging.

He's hitting them harder, hitting fewer pops, but not resulting in more HRs.  His LD / GB / FB distribution isn't that much changed (yes, his GB/FB ratio has changed a bit, it is due to fewer liners, which should hurt BABIP).  He's pulling less.  I still think this is mostly small numbers and not a real change in hitting approach, but if there's someone with a sharper eye or analytical skills can pick up some trends or things to watch, please add them.

This. He's still striking out over 35% of the time.

Unfair to speculate? That's what this blog is about.

Not when it's personal.

So we're just supposed to ignore things that are potentially very relevant to performance just because the explanation isn't between a couple of chalk lines?  What's next, telling us we can't speculate on injuries if they're potentially embarrassing?

That was thoughtful personal speculation.  Seemed okay to me.

Same here. I know a lot of folks linked Desmond's poor performance to his wife being pregnant. These guys have families too and deal with all those issues and it's fair to expect that it may impact their performance. If it was me, I certainly think my work would be affected if I was dealing with serious family issues.

You know what? You're right. You weren't being unfair. Regardless, Taylor has always struggled off the bench and been better when playing, so it's pretty hard to say.

Michael Taylor   32   94   11  25   2     9     5     38    3  .266  .300  .726

I like the On Base Percentage of .300 .426, sets up RBIs for other players; wins more games.

Murph-dawg was embarrassed with his glutes injury.

If his batting average is .266 and he only has 5 walks, how is his OBP .426?

Correct, OBP is .300 and MAT's 38 SO's leads the Nationals team.
