Janes just mentioned that Michael A.'s problem has been goin' on for several weeks and he's played through it.    Maybe that's why he missed a few games.

Probably shouldn't have sat around the clubhouse for three hours before heading out the play.

So he doesn't sit around at home?  That's really a far fetched reason since he already had the injury. Maybe they should have just bubble wrapped him.

Certainly he stretches out before games, particularly if he has been hurting, I suspect that he altered his routine last night.

Makes no sense. Why wouldn't he stretch before the game?

@1:15. When on earth was that? Please tell me that was on his debut.

Don't worry though, his redemption is @5:11

@2:36 we appear again sporting some strange t-shirt number.

They have whirlpools, masseuses and equipment in the club house. I doubt if he didn't use all three.

I sure would. As well as help myself to the pre game buffet.

He probably stretched at 6PM. Then sat around four hours and did not adequately stretch again.  Sounds plausible to me.

Right, at least not to the degree he should have.

Why would he not stretch again. I am sure they all stretch. Just wild speculation.

Guys have a routine, last night was not routine. Probably was fine at seven, sat in the AC for a while, then warmed up and thought he was ready to go.

Makes no sense. If anything the coaches and trainers would be making sure he was the one who stretched. Maybe he took a shower and hurt it that way.

Could be, your guess is as good as mine, just seems like a big coincidence that he got a muscle strain the same night as the big delay.

It's not just stretching.  Jog, stretch, jog faster, stretch again, .... sprint, stretch again.   And so on.  A proper routine is not easily done in the locker room, and it take a good amount of time done properly.  According to Gio, they got around 15 minutes notice before the start of the game.
Of course it's speculation; I wouldn't call it WILD speculation. All I'm saying is that you cannot write off the possibility that that was a factor.

You can't write off the shower as a reason either.

Why use he shower before the game? Might have been a good idea to get warmed up quick. Just sucks that Rizzo screwed around with the start time and screwed us out of a CF.

Well, a hot shower is one way to get warmed up.  Not optimal, but if there's no other way ...  but even then, if he took a shower, it was because that was the only way to warm up, and so if he hurt himself in the shower you can blame the delay for him taking a shower.

Does anyone have any evidence that guys pull muscles more after rain delays?  They seem to do this all the time when games are played at regular times. This is just conspiracy theorists looking to blame Rizzo and team management.

Beer men have equal injury rates on rainy and sunny days.

We could be optimistic and say that he was smart about this. He was tough and played through, while all the while keeping the team and training staff involved.
And if he was batting near .300 and playing plus defense while dealing with an injury, it might bode well for when he comes back healthy.

Take note, Koda.

Just don't rush him back. Let him take his time to heal fully. Werth will be back soon and Goodwin and Raburn have been okay as replacements.
