Maybe so, but he doesn't need to be batting second.   1. Revere   2. Taylor.   Automatic two outs to start the game.

He does something stupid every freaking game he plays in--tonight he was picked off first if the guy had handled the throw. Then he looks at 3 strikes.

Dusty loves him though and now he will play even more.

Putting MAT out there is "showing him love" blah blah blah. Whatever happened to getting benched or sent down because you stunk? Dusty's long leash with players has finally caught up to him and cost the team games. Games it looks like it will need. The mets could takeover first by next week. I sure hope that doesn't happen.

Once in '85.    At the time, I flew a connector there from DCA on my way to Boston.   I think it was some kind of US Air special fare.    :)      Maybe in '67 when I drove from Buffalo to Alexandria Bay (Thousand Islands) but I'm not sure the route.

no.  He's exhausted his rookie eligibility therefore he cannot be called a prospect.

Gee, I sound like Sportsfan.

I know Rusty loves MAT, but I kind of think we won't see him again until Sept.

MLB history is filled with kids who could run and hit with power but couldn't stop striking out. That's Michael A in a nutshell unfortunately.

Batting .231 in AAA, and the article didn't say how many Ks...

I looked him up. He's striking out at about a 30% rate. Ugly. By the way: Goodwin is at about 20% K rate. The standard I wish Taylor could match: Lombo is striking out at about 10.7%.

This might be the end of the line for M.A.T.

If Goodwin comes up in September and flashes much of anything, he could end up leapfrogged in Spring Training.

Taylor will stick for a while for his defense and speed. His biggest threat is if Stevenson or Bautista ends up in Syracuse next year and look like plus defenders with speed on the bases.

Taylor reminds me of Don Lock, expansion Senators' CF from 1962 - '66. Got him from the Yankees, where he was blocked by Mantle. Good fielder, power hitter, but struck out too often. Those of us old enough dreamed that Lock and Frank Howard would each hit 30 or 40 homers a season. Lock struck out 140 or 150 times a year, and when his average sank to .225 or so, he was traded.

I remember watching Lock cover most of the OF one night at DC Stadium.

Was reminded of Lock about a week ago...his birthday is July 27.

You traded him to the Phillies after that; I remember going to a game when he hit a long home run at Connie Mack.  He was good OF as you say and some power and poor for average.  The OF version of SS Bobby Wine for the late 60s Phillies.

Nats got Darrold Knowles, Washington's first serious relief pitcher after Firpo Marberry in the '20s and early '30s. By 1968, Nats had Del Unser in CF, and Unser helped the Phillies win a World Series.
