upates on Young, Ribalta, and Chaparro. Young should play Tuesday, could have played yesterday. Ribalta may start a rehab assignment if his simulated game Tuesday goes well (had a sim game Saturday). Chaparro could move up from the FCL for his rehab assignment if he feels well.

Chaparro went 2-3 with a HR in yesterday's FCL game. 4-11 overall in 4 games with a double and one HR.

Davey said Crews aggravated his back in Atlanta diving for a ball, and has been getting treatment every day since. Apparently he tweaked it today. Getting an MRI tomorrow

Quote
The Nationals will call up outfielder Robert Hassell III, according to a person with knowledge of the move, but it is not yet clear whether Crews will head to the injured list as the corresponding roster move. Hassell, 23, was hitting .288 with a .742 OPS after a 3-for-4 night Tuesday at Class AAA Rochester and is in line to make his MLB debut.
...
Notes: Jacob Young was scratched from the lineup before the game because of lingering shoulder soreness after running into the outfield wall Saturday in Baltimore. Martinez said Young wasn’t able to finish his swing in the batting cages, but he doesn’t think the problem will linger for long. ...

Crews's getting an MRI. It could be Young to the IL instead. Nats could hold off making a move until close to game time, and if it is a rainout, that might mean tomorrow.

Crews to the IL
10 day, left oblique strain. Probably going to be at least a month before he's back if not longer.

ranks up with the Herz TJS as the most impactful injury of the season. Obliques often take a couple of months. This probably means he's out until after the ASB. I'm not a doctor or a trainer, but I play one in the peanut gallery.

Does it though? It's not like Crews was raking.

He was at least hitting bombs now, leading rookies in homers. His xBA was much better than actual. He was figuring it out. He has to go back to ground zero, get comfortable twisting in rehab, then go through the whole cycle of see MLB pitching, adjust, they adjust to you, you adjust back again. It's losing a half year to a year of development.

hopefully not that long, but yeah. They mentioned on the radio yesterday his batting average should be around .250/.260 based on average babip.

tbh, I honestly thought he was going to make a run after memorial day and get in the running for RotY. Only two more Philly/post-philly funks, which seemed like a lot of his problem.

That's true but he's also got an obscene 32% whiff rate.

Bell has started to hit. Looking like 2021 again.

.259 / .394 / .407 since 5/10 (33 PAs) with 1 HR. .801 OPS is fine for a #6 hitter.

He's also 3rd on the team in walks.  They just need to tell him to stop trying to stretch out singles.

Bell will be perfectly fine if he hits line drives, takes his walks, and generally Moneyballs his way into not making outs.

Absolutely! Just hoping he follows his pattern in 2021 again when he went on a hot streak along with Schwarber.

Young to the 10 day IL, Lile heading to DC.

Young officially has a "sprained AC joint in his left shoulder".  The AC joint connects the collarbone to the shoulder blade.  Not clear how serious this is.

I think they had 39 on the 40 man roster so no need to release or 60 day IL a player.  That right?

Zuck:
Quote
* Orlando Ribalta’s attempted return from a right biceps strain has hit a snag. The reliever said he was still feeling tightness in his upper arm after throwing his second simulated game in a week Tuesday.

The Nationals have decided to “back off” Ribalta’s throwing schedule and will wait a few days before attempting to ramp him up again.

* Derek Law threw 20 fastballs off a bullpen mound Thursday, the first time in nearly two months the veteran reliever has been able to do that. Law, on the 15-day IL since the end of spring training with right forearm inflammation, will now attempt to ramp things up without experiencing the kind of setbacks he had when he first tried this throwing program at the start of the season.
