Soroka to the 15 day IL. Rutledge called up.

As a starter?

Doubt it. He hasn't started since like last year. Maybe they will bring up a starter for the LA series.

Could do a bullpen game next Tuesday with Lord, Rutledge, and Ribalta or Salazar

No surprise it's more serious than they initially led us to believe.

Zuck says he has thrown off flat ground but hasn't thrown a bullpen yet and they want to see how he does with one before having him start again.

that doesn't align with an IL stint

Via Zuck:

Quote
* Michael Soroka played catch for the first time since landing on the 15-day injured list, an encouraging sign the right-hander won’t have to miss a significant amount of time.

Soroka was placed on the IL over the weekend with a right biceps strain after being forced out of his season debut following his third pitch of the sixth inning. The club is hopeful he won’t be out long term, and the fact he could throw today bolsters that belief.

“He played catch; he said he felt fine,” Martinez said. “But we’ll have to build him back up again, and we’ll continue to do that.”

Zuck says Herz is still seeking opinions. Seems like he isn’t accepting his fate.

Well it is the most Nationals thing possible to delay inevitable surgery.

We have a lot of potential 4s and 5s beyond Gore this year. I'd rather he just get the surgery and come back late next year when we don't have williams or soroka and have seen what we have in Parker, owasagara, lord, and maybe susana by then.

It's April, not August. Plenty of time. If DJ Herz will be in a better mental state taking time talking to more doctors, that's fine.

Every surgery is "routine" unless it is on you.

DeJong to IL. Lipscomb to replace him.

Lipscomb is playing all over diamond in Rochester.  I’d be thrilled if he got some hits and made front office give a long glance at Rosario before sending Lipscomb back to Rochester.

TalkNats noted earlier that in the offseason Lipscomb, Wood, and Nunez all worked with A Plus Baseball in Gaithersburg. So far they are all showing positive results.
