Makes a ton of sense given his spring. See him at the end of next season.

Not yet.

First we give him the PRP injection and then wait for 12 weeks. When that doesn't work, they'll try some rehab stuff. After that, he'll get three opinions. Then he'll finally get TJS. Which means he will lose most of next season too. When they try and bring him back, he'll have setbacks. So in 2027, we'll be like, where is he? And then the team will announce he had an amputation, just like with Cavalli

And the too much pitching depth "problem" begins to sort itself out. Hopefully his case is handled better than Gray's and Cavalli's and he's only out for one season instead of two.

Sucks for DJ. Hope he doesn't need to go under the knife.

Sounds like a commercial.

WSJ had a really good article couple weeks about pitchers throwing harder than ever, and getting injured more frequently.  Jordan Montgomery went down today, and hard throwing minor leaguers are now getting completely babied, throwing < 100 innings per year.

Source: DJ Herz has a tear in the UCL in his left throwing elbow. The recommendation is for TJ surgery with Dr. Keith Meister. Being prudent, Herz will get a second opinion and make his decision. #GetWellSoon

I guess we're ahead of schedule

Remember when we had too many starters and folks were complaining about the Williams and Soroka signings.

The bigger issue, at least for me, was them being guaranteed spots in the rotation. Already getting a taste of that issue with Sims in the bullpen.

maybe lucky if it is a clear tear. That way, no PRP, no rehab, no brace try as time wasters.

Herz already placed on the 60 day IL. Lest we forget, Mason Thompson and Josiah Gray are on the 60 day IL as well.

Brzykcy and Law start the season on the 15 day IL.

Cavalli is on the 15 day, which may indicate that they think he'll be pitching more than rehab before June, or it may just be that they don't need the roster slot now that Herz is out.

Chaparro is on the 10 day IL.

This is already 5 day old news but we missed this detail.

Quote
Manager Davey Martinez said Law’s MRI came back clean and the injury isn’t thought to be too serious, with Law saying he believes he’ll be back when first eligible for activation on April 8.  Law was one of the game’s most valuable workhorses last season, tossing 90 innings of 2.60 ball over 75 appearances for the Nationals.

Brzykcy also pitched just once this spring, as his quad strain has kept him out of game action for over a month.  The righty has started throwing bullpens again, so he is at least partway through the ramp-up process even if it seems like Brzykcy could miss more than the 15-day minimum given how little he pitched in the spring.

Davey said it’s a bicep cramp. He’s day to day.

updates from Davey:
- Law hasn't started throwing yet. Seems doubtful he returns when eligible on 4/8
- Chaparro is still building strength, doesn't sound like he's resumed baseball activities or is close to returning

If Soroka's hurt, Ogasawara could be the replacement.  6 Ks, 0 walks, 1 ER in 6 innings today in Rochester.

probably no need. Looks like just the cramp and that Soroka may make his next start
