Just hit Crews second. Wood third. Lowe cleanup. Ruiz 5th.
you don't buy 1/2/4 should be your best hitters? I expect Wood to draw BBs, which are wasted at #3.

This. Wood should either bat lead off or ideally bat second. If Abrams can manage a league average OBP I'm fine with him leading off.

Per Zuck: DeJong is undergoing surgery to repair a broken nose. No timetable for return.

Meanwhile at AAA: Brady House has posted .299 /.365 /.471 / .836 with 3HR, a 3B, and 4 2Bs

I'm optimistic about mostly everything, but if Wood continues being Wood, Crews flips his script and hits his billing, and House just becomes a competent MLB 3B, we've got a pretty decent little core. I think if Abrams figures it out, it's icing on the cake. Gore looks legit, Irvin and Parker seem like quality pitchers in the rotation. Gotta see what we can get from Cavalli, even as a reliever.

I remember when Rod Langway got his nose broken -- flattened -- toward the end of a second period against the Rangers. There he was on the second defensive shift to start the third. John Davidson almost shouted "The warrior returns!".

DeJong must be hurt worse.

Soroka scheduled for 5 innings today in Harrisburg. Assuming all goes well he is probably in the rotation after this.

Since his start is the day after Lord and there's no off days, you probably see one more start out of Lord. Maybe they insert Soroka on Friday to give the rotation after Parker an extra day off, or hold off Soroka until Tuesday 5/6 when Lord is due again, and come back with Parker on Wednesday on regular rest. Everyone else would get an extra day after the team's next off day on 5/8.

Per Andrew Golden, no decision yet on what to do with Soroka next. Soroka says he's ready to return. Davey suggested one more rehab start to push him to 90 pitches first.

If he does go one more rehab on Friday, then he could go Wednesday 5/7 vs the Guardians next homestand.  Lord would have 2 more starts that way - 5/1 and 5/6.

Given that we have not enough starters in AAA to be called up, I'm guessing Lord is optioned.

I get that they're going to play the contract with Soroka, but he's a downgrade from Lord.

even after his best start of the year, his WHIP is 1.66. maybe Soroka is worse, but Lord hasn't shown much so far. 4 walks per 9. I think he's earned 1 more start, which what he's in line for, but let's not confuse him for somebody who has established he's more than a 6th man in a 5 man rotation.

His first few MLB starts, and he had some nerves.  He's at least the 5th best option for this team right now.  Soroka's a $9 million lottery ticket who isn't going to pay off.

his last 2 starts before tonight he went 4.1 and 4 innings, gave up 4 runs, and 12 hits and walks.

As I said, he's earned another start. This isn't Joan Adon. Let's see how he does. Jury is out.

He doesn't seem to be stretched out.  Those 4.1 and pair of 4 inning starts were 57, 65, and 80 pitches.  He threw 69 in 5 last time.

when your giving up 1.75 walks and hits per inning pitched, which he was until last start, it's hard to get a longer leash.

I really want to emphasize I don’t dislike this guy. It's just there are lots of needs improvement things in his game now.
