Doing so would only enrich MLB now that he is gone...doesn't do Pete any good.  Better they have to explain how they banned him for gambling while gambling now finances the sport...
Perhaps Draft Kings could take bets on whether or not the commissioner would remove him from the list?

I don't see why they have to explain it. Regardless of where things stand now, betting on baseball was always the one inescapable mortal sin in that sport. Every player, manager, and team employee knew it and it was made obvious to them many times over. While I happen to think the steroid users had far more of a negative impact from a competitive and performance standpoint, that doesn't change that Rose was just a dumbass in thinking he wouldn't get caught.

It's not just betting on baseball, it was betting on his team (or not betting some games). That's different from fan betting because he had the opportunity to impact the outcome of the games he was betting on

He was still one of the greatest to ever play the game...

We would be naive to think it's not even more widespread, if more clandestine, today.  He was made an example...not for gambling per se...but for lying about it to Bud.  That was his real sin...had he come clean, this would no longer be an issue...IMHO, of course ...

lying to Bart, not Bud. I think part of what hurt Rose's case was Giamatti 's death. Those who knew Bart say the stress of the Rose situation ruined Bart's health. Smoked, drank some, but other problems got worse

Ah, thanks for the correction...I just remember Bud talking about how he was gonna remain permanently banned...

More or less, only Bart or maybe his kids could forgive Rose. Next time you see Paul, ask him

Six minutes of Pete Rose talking hitting. East to see why he became a manager:

I would have loved to play for Pete or Bobby Knight, for what that’s worth. Probably a moral failing o my part.

Fernando Valenzuela :(
Rotations in the 1981 World Series:

LAD - Jerry Reuss, Burt Hooton, Fernando, Bob Welch
NYY - Ron Guidry, Tommy John, Dave Righetti, Rick Reuschel

Fernando beat Steve Rogers in NLCS game 5 so he wasn't available for World Series Game 1. Rogers gave up the winning run on a homer to Rick Monday when Rogers came in for the 9th.

And still Steve Carlton was robbed of the Cy Young in 1981 by Fernandomania.
