I know this is in bad taste, but I've been on a Jimmy Carter death watch ever since he put himself in "hospice" well over one year ago.  He's making a mockery out of hospice, and I'm fed up.

Maybe go protest in front of the hospice facility?

M. Emmet Walsh, just 3 days before his 89th birthday.

Other than hating those cans, he was a fine man.

For those who didn’t see it on the Clubhouse side, Peter Angelos is dead at 94.

I do not consider it appropriate to celebrate someone’s death except in very rare cases of truly reprehensible people like Hitler or similar, and as much as I despise Angelos, he was no Hitler or McVeigh or similar. I cannot, however, bring myself to say "RIP."

So is it appropriate to say "R, Peter Angelos"?

With the amount of revisionism which seems to go on in modern history (think Roberts on Napoleon) how long before we see a volume titled 'HItler - Not Such A Bad Bloke, Really...' ?

I don’t want to get political, so I won’t name the well-known person who more or less said something along those lines recently. I understood his comments to be somewhat akin to the ones Marge Schott made years ago.

Joe Lieberman, 82.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/obituaries/2024/03/27/joe-lieberman-senator-vice-president-dead/

I remember him from what I think was his first run for Congress back in 1980. On campus, the Ds organized a group to support him and Chris Dodd, omitting Carter due to the mixed reactions to him on campus (lots of Kennedy and John Anderson support). Lost to Larry Dinardis, an R for whom Reagan came in to campaign near the end when things were looking surprisingly good for Rs. I think Lieberman next became either AG or secretary of state, some statewide office that eventually led to his Senate run.
