i mentioned in the GDT, but Adam Duvall signed with the Braves for $3 million. This is an old dude who played center some last year with a 119 OPS+.

While i pushed for lefty pop, like a lot of folks, in light of the Rosario and Winker deals, it does make me think the team jumped a little quick for Gallo when his price dropped to $5 million, and after bringing in Rosario and Winker, I think that they are shorter on righty power now than lefty. They need a big performance out of Senzel or Joey finding a median between 2022 and 2023. Otherwise, Thomas is the only righty with real pop.

Is Duvall a Boras client?

CAA. I think that's Ryan Zimmerman and Trea Turner's agents

Might explain why we didn't go after him...we only seem to sign Boras castoffs...

Snell to the giants 2/$62 million. $17 million in the first year deferred until 2026 and he can opt out after this season.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like only Cali teams spent the big bucks this offseason... (other than that Witt Jr. big extension)

It's really only 2 California teams - the Dodgers and Giants - which have dominated the market. The Padres, Angels and A's didn't do much.

Other than them, the bigger spenders are:

• Royals: 7 free agent signings for $109.5 million and the Witt Jr. extension for $288.7 million
• Phillies: 4 free agent signings for $183 million and the Wheeler extension for $126 million
• Astros: 2 free agent signings for $107 million and Altuve's extension for $125 million
• Diamondbacks: 4 free agent signings for $156.5 million
• Brewers: 7 free agent signings for $52.29 million, the Chourio extension for $82 million and Devin Williams' arb avoidance for $7.25 million
• Reds: 3 free agent signings for $108.25 million, India's arb avoidance for $8.8 million and Maile's extension for $3.5 million
• Cardinals: 6 free agent signings for $107.74 million, Edman's arb avoidance for $16.5 million
• Braves: 4 free agent signings for $35.85 million, the Sale trade and extension ($38 million, no idea how much the trade cost them), Jimenez extension ($26 million) and Pierce Johnson extension ($14.25 million).
• Pirates: 7 free agent signings for $34.05 million and the Keller extension for $77 million
• Cubs: 3 free agent signings for $90.75 million

This doesn't really account for the value of trades, though. The Yankees only made one big free agent signing for Marcus Stroman, but their big splash was of course the Soto trade.

The Giants are forcing every prediction / model of the season to keep on rerunning the projected standings by adding Soler, Chapman, and now Snell after Spring Training started.

The FG crowd sourcing and predictions had this contract - 1 year, $12 million - but without the deferral. The deferral knocks the AAV down below $9 million, but the Mets are in the highest tax bracket, so this is probably closer to a $20 million cost.

Likely didn't want to join this dumpster fire, because that type of deal is right up the Lerner's alley...$7.5MM deferred until 2034-2038...

reporting on MLBTR says that the SFG offered him 1 year, $14-15 million earlier in the offseason and he turned it down

Boras couldn't even find someone to give him an option year.

I wonder how many of these Boras guys turned down far richer extensions just to get burnt in free agency?

Just a few hours before the deal was announced, Montgomery's (or Boras') stalking horses were floating rumors that he was evaluating multiple offers, so this was apparently the best deal he could get.

Something just doesn't seem right, all these free agents got low-balled this Winter, I can't recall any offseason being this bad for players since the post 94 strike era.

with Montgomery, I wonder if he turned down something like 5 years, $90 million.

Yep.  The owners should keep giving long term contracts to over 30 pitchers when it almost never works out.  Strasburg. Corbin.  DeGrom. Robbie Ray.  The latest Scherzer contract.  Even Sonny Gray is hurt.
