3/$126M

The deal doesn't kick in until next year. Wheeler is getting $18M this year.
Underpaid now.  Overpaid later.

Verlander / Max money, seems fair.

Well Max has been overpaid for sure.  But they earned it.

that's Scherzer Verlander price.

Max out until mid season and now Verlander will begin the season on the disabled list. I think the day of giving 37 year-olds big bucks is probably over.

Looks like Giolito is headed to TJ.  Betting big money on starting pitching is sure looking a fool's bet these days.

Better to go the Rizzo route and not bet money on any position.

Maybe we can trade Corbin to them? They are paying something like $37 million to two guys who won't be able to pitch for them this year.

That's just sad...

I guess that the thought of him staying home with no "job" terrified him lol

Lol, what? Votto has 242 million in career earnings. And he was offered several jobs, just none playing major league baseball

It is for a baseball player.

I would do horrible things to be able to retire with that kind of money at 40

Votto is from Toronto. Good landing place for a final season.

thorpe has been traded for Soto and Cease in one off-season. It'll be really interesting to see how his career turns out. Clearly highly valued. Also, it looks like Irairte is a very interesting arm if he ever can show command.

i mentioned in the GDT, but Adam Duvall signed with the Braves for $3 million. This is an old dude who played center some last year with a 119 OPS+.

While i pushed for lefty pop, like a lot of folks, in light of the Rosario and Winker deals, it does make me think the team jumped a little quick for Gallo when his price dropped to $5 million, and after bringing in Rosario and Winker, I think that they are shorter on righty power now than lefty. They need a big performance out of Senzel or Joey finding a median between 2022 and 2023. Otherwise, Thomas is the only righty with real pop.

Sent the first pitch he saw as a Blue Jay over the wall.
