Technically, they are selecting his contract, as he signed a minor league deal

I guess this is a situation where the Blue Jays are paying him 12 million to play for the Braves.   It kind of blows my mind that a guy like Roark can make over 50 million dollars in a cusp MLB SP career.  There's such a narrow difference between a guy like him and a guy who spends a decade back and forth in the minors without getting a break and doesn't make much more than hundred thousand over their career.

Roark performed when he got his chance.

He had one really good season, and a couple borderline backend of rotation/AAAA seasons, and turned it into 50 million dollars.   I liked the guy and don't begrudge him his money, I just find it fascinating.   A guy like Espino is performing when he gets the chance.  If he sticks with us for the year, he'll get 500k, which I think is more than he's made in his entire career at 34.

Didn't realize Tanner Roark had a negative WAR for his career. $50 million is indeed impressive. But yes he was great in 2014 and 2016.

Yea. It’s 18.6 career WAR per baseball reference. Minus 0.3 this year.

Aaron Nola strikes out 10 Mets in a row to tie Tom Seaver’s record.

EDIT;  11 Ks through 4 innings.  Also two hits including an RBI double in a 1-0 game so far.  Seven inning game so the overall K record is not in jeopardy.  Thanks Manfred.

How's it feel to be rooting for the Barves?

Feels good. They are up 11-2.  I even bet on them tonight.

On FG, our playoff odds have doubled in less than a week.  Still only 12%.  They have the Barves, the Nats, and the Phillies all projected within a game of .500, and the Mets still a heavy favorite as a projected 88-89 win team.

So Mets interested in AssCab.  Does that mean they are out on Donaldson?

So I am watching BoSox phils tonight. 10-3 sox in the bottom of the 6th. Kintzler pitching basically mop up. 2 on, but he ks a guy for the 2d out. F'ng Girardi pulls him mid inning. Brogdon on now to pitch to Vazquez.  This is why games are so slow. Just shoot Girardi and you'll chop 10 minutes a game from pace of play

For the record, I don't favor shooting Girardi. I am just pointing out what shooting him would mean

No, shooting him is fine.
