If you get 2.2 times your bet plus your bet back when you bet on the big favorite, what do you get when you bet on the underdog?  Does he really net $7.7MM on a +220 line?

no, your original wager is already figured into the 2.2

I don't think they have a way to bottle talent . . .

Hell, I just hope Houston will allow us to wear our undefeated in the 2019 postseason navy blues.

Splitting Games 1 and 2 is critical. This is why I believe that Davey should manage those games like he did the NLDS. Corbin should be available out of the pen for an inning in Game 1, Sanchez in Game 2. You really cannot count on Scherzer and Strasburg getting through 7 innings against the Astros lineup. If you get a lead after the 5th in one of those games, you have to manage it like we did the NLDS. The Astros offense is far too explosive to trust the game to some combination of Elias/Rainey/Rodney for 2 innings.

Of course we want to win at least 1 in Houston. But, it sure seems like Davey wants to keep the relievers in the bullpen and the starters in the dugout. I agree that it would be tempting to use Corbin because we don't have a lefty other than Doolittle. If Corbin was going to the bullpen we would have probably heard the rumours already.

Corbin isnt going to the pen. Hes simply being used in game in his throw day.

I'm surprised at how many people are shaking in their boots over the possibility of going up against the astros and about the week "layoff". I wonder if all fanbases are filled with so many chicken littles. :smh:

You must be listenin' to 106.7.   :mg:

Of course, that was after they spent the first hour and fifteen minutes anal-eyeing the 'skins/niners game.

No. I'm at Dulles airport. But I've heard too many people talking about this lately (including this forum). I guess what those stupid freaks say on the radio influences what people think. :hang:

As I ninja'd above, (:)), they spent the first portion of the show anal-eyeing a 9-0 football game and then immediately started the Nats' segment with "this layoff is gonna kill us" with stats from years past.     Keeeeeeeeeeeeeriste you'd think they were broadcasting from Ashtabula.      I'm not listening to the flagship talk portion of their programming til at least we win the Series.     I'll turn on MLB TV later and see what crap they're spewing.

You're surprised? You just posted this on a fan forum that literally had a huge thread about blowing up the team during the season because it wasn't good enough to compete in the playoffs, specifically against The Mighty Dodgers. :hysterical:

there's a big difference managing with a DH than without.  You may be more inclined to stick with Stras and Scherzer 7 even if they get hit a bit and let up 3-4 runs if their stuff is good.

is that what the article said?  It said a win would net $7.7MM, so I figured it would pay $11.2MM (less the $3.5MM nets $7.7MM).  Something didn't seem right.

im "Mattress Mack" McIngvale, owner of Gallery Furniture in Houston, bet $3.5 million on the Houston Astros to win the World Series at the DraftKings sportsbook at Scarlet Pearl casino in Biloxi, Mississippi. At +220 odds, the wager would pay a net $7.7 million if the Astros win the World Series.

Now you really confused me. I believe if the money is paid up front then you do get the payoff plus your money back. What really has me confused though is the +220. The astros are -220 (unless he laid the wager down at some point before the playoffs started?)

I think the wager was made before the ALCS.

Edit: Yeah the article is from Oct 1. So before the playoffs.

Not if you have a lead.  Not with the Astro's offense

Has anyone actually said they think the Nats are going to lose? Or is it just people thinking that the Astros are tough? Or observing that there is a history of teams with long layoffs doing poorly?

Can’t keep you straight sometimes. You make fun of people when they are too positive, you make fun of them when they are too negative? I think maybe you just like to make fun of people.

106.7 Danny (of Grant and Danny) went to our losing right away.    However, he's always "no happiness" and could be a poster here.

Worrying about what teams did in other years did is dumb. Every team is different and faces different circumstances.

The SSS is populated by imbeciles.

And what I'm talking about now is not being negative. It's people who are shrinking and hand wringing at the idea of playing the scary astros. Previous teams here have simply choked. This team has proven that they are different. They're damn good and they're confident.

The astros say they're the apex predators of the AL? Those freaking gorillas better be careful because the leopards of the NL are on their way to the jungle and they're hungry!  :whip:
