We’ve sent people to observe a Buffalo https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2018/07/cafardos-latest-abreu-astros-ramos-nats-as-treinen-orioles.html
What to trade for? Nothing. If we can't hit with the talent we have, nothing we add is going to help. Whoever we obtain no matter how good will instantly stop hitting and we will have wasted prospects. Seriously, adding offense to this lineup is a waste of resources. The lineup either starts living up to its potential ... or it doesn't.
It's time to move on from Roark.
Tanner Roark needs a stint on the Jason Marquis DL™* sometime after the All Star Break*For new posters, this is when a solid pitcher inexplicably suddenly sucks so they are sent to DL. Strasburg, Dan Haren, and almost every free agent bullpen Nats signing has spent time there.
Nats need some starters. How bout old friend Jordan Zimmermann?
Has he gotten any better? He was stinking up the joint if I remember correctly.
Looking sharp recently. Another ideaTrea Turner for JT Realmuto ... who says no?
This isnt sudden, nor inexplicable. He hasn't been good since 2016.Moreover, if the Nats expect to compete for the division going forward, Rizzo needs to get another top of the rotation starter. Now is as good a time as any
Best would be this year's Verlander, if there is one. Assuming there is not, two respectable starters would allow the Nats to forget Gio and Roark. Those guys define negative WAR, or "Losses Above Replacement", LAR.
Rays are looking at Nats farm system. Nats are looking at Ramos. We are gonna get a catcher.
Kieboom, Fedde, Roark, and one of Reed/Kieboom/Severini for Archer and Wilson
Nats are not moving Kieboom for a rental catcher like Ramos. Realmuto, maybe, but not Ramos.Ramos is the type of guy who gets moved for a couple low level prospects for salary relief. Giving Kieboom for him would be giving more up for him this time than when the Nats gave up Capps for him seven years ago, which admittedly was a major steal.
You're moving Keiboom for Archer
Agreed. If they can find a back of the rotation starter for cheap, go grab him, but for the lineup the Nats have to go with what they have. They aren't benching any of our top three outfielders, left side of the infield is locked, first has bodies, and they can't give up on Murphy yet. Maybe they can bring in another catcher, but not sure who makes sense at the needed price. The Nationals have the pieces for the lineup. I think they need another pitcher.
Just one?
