Sounds like the Pirates are in sell mode, now. Should we be looking at Cervelli over Ramos? I still think we want to see what Wieters has before we move on a catcher, though.
Wieters had a hot start last year and has been a disaster ever since. He is done. It was a bad signing.

Think we can get Felipe back?

Eh, it was worth a shot. I think they're gonna wait til after the break and get a look at him before they make a move. If brings a calming effect top Tanner and Gio, they might stand pat. Still, the question was more Cervelli or Ramos?

Ramos just because I think the price would be lower.

Yea, because Jake Arrieta would have been so useful when the Nats were getting shut out.

I think I seen a stat that said when the Nats lost in June, they scored less than 2 runs a game.

Yes pitching has got to be better. But good pitching wouldn't have saved them in June.

Team ERA so far for 2018

Nats = 3.87
Braves = 3.87
Phillies = 3.89

 :hysterical:

Oh by the way, team ERA for Nats in 2017... 3.85  :hysterical:

None of those help us. Chris Archer, Jacob deGrom, Noah Syndergaard, Garrett Richard's....

These are the guys they need to target.

Any of the guys I mentioned would be an upgrade over Roark at this point. I like Richards, who would come cheap since he's a rental. Not a fan of an Archer trade unless he came cheap, which he probably wouldn't given his very friendly contract and him being under team control for 3 more years. I'm not giving up anyone of value for him given his annual underachieving and current month long DL stint.

Forget about deGrom or Syndergaard coming here.

Its do or die for Rizzo. Either get new starting pitching, or be a seller at the deadline.

Robles, Roark, and small parts for Archer and Wilson
Fedde and another part to the Angel's for Garret Richard's and Blake Parker

Or substitute Bumgarner and Watson for Archer

Looking sharp recently.

Another crazy idea

Trea Turner for JT Realmuto ... who says no?

The Nats would clearly say NO.
Turner is 2 years younger, is controlled for 2 more years than Realmuto and makes about one fifth of what Realmuto makes ($5,77,200 to Realmuto's $2.9M)
Wilson Ramos makes the most sense and would clear up a huge problem for a lot less in trade.
Marlins would jump all over that trade.

I don’t even know if I disagree with him, but I love how Slate just says everything with the certainty as if he is actually sitting at Rizzo’s desk.

This isnt sudden, nor inexplicable.  He hasn't been good since 2016.---(Talking about Roark)

Moreover, if the Nats expect to compete for the division going forward, Rizzo needs to get another top of the rotation starter. Now is as good a time as any
ERAs as of June 1 except Roark's on May 26.
Roark's ERA for his first 10 games was 3.17
Gio's ERA for his first 11 games was 2.10
Scherzer's ERA his first 12 starts was 1.92
Strasburg's ERA his first 11 games was 3.12
All 4 pitchers were also in the top 4 starters in pitches per start at that point. Martinez over extending his starters has created a lot of unnecessary problems and has maybe cost the division title.

Back to your point, I agree they do need another starter. And a catcher and a short and a long reliever.
I don't agree that Roark wasn't good earlier this year.

The Marlins are not going to compete during Realmuto's contract and the extra 2 years of control with Turner is exactly what they are looking to do.
And the Nats could not possibly think that they can win with Difo at short.
Good catchers are available. Good shortstops not so much.
Ramos makes the most sense.

2.5 years of 27 year old Realmuto is valuable but not worth 4.5 years of 25 year old Turner.

It's easily that valuable, particularly with Keiboom in the system

This is Turner’s first full healthy season. He’s 25 and on track to be a six win player at SS with 4 more years of team control. He’s going to be the face of your franchise after Harper leaves. I don’t think you trade him. No guarantee that Kieboom will be that good and if he is, you put him at 2B

Even more lulz than trading for Cervelli...unless we send Eaton back to the Pirates.

:lmao:

Realmuto is on pace for 7 WAR in a park that is god awful for hitters. Take him out of there and his    .329/.393/.592 away split becomes even more valuable.

Meanwhile, Turner is Elvis Andrus 2.0.

Even more lulz than trading for Cervelli...unless we send Eaton back to the Pirates.
What? The Pirates are years away from competing again. Cervelli has one more year left. The Pirates will gladly deal him for a prospect.

Turner's defense over the last couple of weeks has really opened up my eyes. Range, athleticism, and an arm I didn't think he had. This kid could develop into an all-star every easily. He hits 20 HR, steals 40 bases, and plays great defense and you're good.
