I think they will because its the Yankees and its NYC--lots of pressure on them. Depends on who else they unload and what they get but Miller is a top 5 reliever and I think they will want more than a B+ prospect as some here call anyone below Double A.

I don't think the Yankees care as long as he's ready to play alongside Bryce in '19.

The thing is, the Yankees will need more than just someone who is ready now or next year. They have no real starting pitching in the system outside Severino. They have Bird, Judge, Williams, and Sanchez who can all help now, but that still leaves holes. Ellsbury and Gardner are just average at this point and who knows about Ellsbury's health. Didi looks good and can move off of SS when Mateo is ready in a few years. 3B and DH are black holes. Sure, they can plan to get Harper, but even still, they have to get some starting pitching, and unless they pull a 2015 Cubs, they will probably need some time, a year or two, to develop at the MLB level and put up with the rigors of the game and competition.

At this point Mateo will move off SS for Didi. No way you move a very good defender and established player for a rookie. Didi has been incredible.

I'm sticking to Chapman as the target all along. If there is a hitter acquired, I expect it to be Bruce. This is Dusty's team and he wants to get the band back together.

I'm somewhat proud that I don't know who "Mateo" is. I assume he's the next Ricky Ledee, Ruben Rivera, Eric Duncan, or Jesus Montero - someone the New York media bigs up to be a megastar since the time he's in single-A who turns out to be a AAAA player. When did the Yankees farm system last produce a very good player outside of the bullpen (theirs or anyone else's)?

It isn't a complaint....yet.

For those thinking that the Yankees "won't care" about giving up Miller--you are not correct and history will prove me right. The Yankees of yesteryears are gone--the current ones will spend, but they will care about their up and coming talent as well as the talent they buy once they think they can compete.

They're all in or they're not. They aren't going to get the help they need this year from dealing Chapman alone. Either they are willing to trade off Mateo, Judge, or Sanchez for the starting pitching they need, or they are going to punt this year.

He's 4 years older now. Defensive skills can change a lot in 4 years, especially at a position you don't play.

IIRC Harp wanted to play CF but the Nats were concerned about his legs holding up in subsequent years.

He's 23 and should be in the best shape of his life. Dusty is already giving players days off throughout the year.

He had a whopping 286 innings in CF prior to playing at the MLB level and did fine. Bryce Harper would be fine in CF.

He's ok in center, you can live with him there. But he's far short of Denard Span, or even Michael Taylor, and I think that's what Rizzo wants, someone in center who will catch virtually everything. Although, Harper is probably as good as Revere, so it's hard to completely understand the thinking. I don't know how this Turner-in center experiment is going, but I can't imagine that they expect him to develop into an elite centerfielder like Rizzo likes.

We're reportedly interested in Rockies OF Charlie Blackmon, who is batting .305 with a .386 OBP, is an OK defensive CF if not exactly Taylor, and who is signed through 2018. Blackmon is 30.

That would be pretty cool. He'd cost a better prospect since he's got 2 years left, but then the CF/leadoff problem is solved, Taylor can be the defensive sub, and Turner doesn't have to learn outfield.

Chuck Nasty would be awesome too. His defense isn't awful. Definitely better than Revere. Can't see him getting more than CarGo still.
