I'd rather have Robinson / Murphy at 1B and Murphy / Turner at 2B.

On the fantasy trade for Trout: no. Just no. Maybe Harper and AJ Cole for Trout...if Trout has a conract that lasts longer than Harper might be in Washington. Otherwise, no, no, no. Maybe if it was a trade for a young Mickey Mantle plus Whitey Ford plus Elston Howard...

You do realize Beltran is hitting .298/.336/.546, right?

Trout's contract goes longer than Harper's. And there is no way AJ Cole gets you anything, even with Harper.

eh, at this stage, he should be a first baseman.  Beltran is a guy I'd love on this roster because he'd be an upgrade either in the OF or at 1st
You can't convince me the price of Carlos Beltran is worth it. This club already has a bunch of guys needing at bats. Drew has been hitting the ball hard, Robinson is hitting pretty well, and Turner just needs time on the field. That's before Zim gets back. If the Nats wanted to pull a Beltran or Reddick, great, but short of that I'm not sure the price of a bat is worth it.

Starting to agree. Dusty has to field a team like he wants the ring though. That means Murphy on 1st, Drew or Turner (whoever is hotter) on 2nd, and Zimmerman on the bench in the playoffs. If Zimmerman gets a lot of playing time before that, it's because he has earned every chance to turn it around. Once it's go time, however, feelings don't matter.

I'm hearing that Rizzo wants Lopez pitching Tuesday and pushed Gio to Wednesday and is working on a trade of a starter.

Rizzo might wait several days to make the trade to see how Lopez does.

Being told this is a multi-player trade that is not close to being finalized.

Who?

I don't see them trading for a closer unless that guy is ready to be the setup man.  I expect them to audition Lopez and Giolito a bit more as well as see Ross some and then if they aren't totally happy to move for another starter. Right now I'm not sure who the fourth starter is in the playoffs. Ross with the DL stint may make it coast to coast this season. If he gets going like he was early that'd be awesome.

The real question is who is his source, he often scoops the beat writers. Follow @TalkNats2 on Twitter.

Starting pitcher ..... Rich Hill?

If Lopez is ready to start at the MLB level, even a spot start, I see no reason not to put him in the pen at the MLB level.

Yankees scouting Class AAA Syracuse this weekend, headed to DC this week. Possible match with Nats.

Exactly. Unless he gets A.J.ed in his debut, he's good for the bullpen.

So much for your bad prediction that signing murphy was a waste of money.

Archer isn't on the block. They aren't trading Archer.

I would like Clayton Kershaw. Maybe Rizzo should get on that:)

Matt Moore in the NL might be a great pitcher. Like to see Maddux work with him.

They literally just said yesterday that they aren't trading Archer unless they are BLOWN away. They will get enough for Moore.

Rizzo: "If there's a deal out there, we'll go for it."

https://soundcloud.com/mlbnetworkradio/mike-rizzo-wsh-gm-if-theres-a-deal-out-there-well-go-for-it

Rizzo knows this year is a golden opportunity. Not that we have huge holes, but gotta look aggressively. Miller makes more sense than anything, but he'll be very expensive. Would you trade Reynaldo Lopez, Austin Voth and another prospect for him? I don't even know where to begin with Turner, Gio and Robles probably all off the table.

If you listened to the entire clip, he also said that he likes the team as constructed, and is looking to upgrade thru Harper and Zimmerman upping their game.  When did we hear something like that before?

I don't expect him to do much, other than maybe adding a middlin' bullpen arm...

It must be a great team cause he built it. Nuff said.
