Davey on Danny Espinosa and his struggles in Syracuse. "I think he has a misguided opinion it's OK to hit .220 with 20 home runs."

I think Davey has the incorrect information that Danny is hitting .220 ...

I think he means that Danny is trying to be Ian Desmond and hack away at everything when in reality, he needs to learn how to hit.

Syracuse-Rochester doubleheader: Espinosa goes nil-for-8, average down to .094.

This almost has the makings of a horror film.

Nope, just didn't look that far back up the thread (heard about the nil-for-8 just now on the radio).

0 for 4, 1K current batting average .088

How low can a batting average go before someone says ENOUGH!

Davey has it right. Espi imagines he can hit as high as .220 and imagines that's OK as long as he hits 20 home runs. Wrong on both.

With his numbers even if he tested positive for PEDs no one would believe he used them and presenting his slash line in an appeal would almost definitely get the case thrown out.

In all seriousness...  what would you do if after that 3-4 game Davey held a news conference to announce he's successfully worked on his approach and is back as their everyday 2nd baseman and they are sending Rendon back to AAA?

hope that it was five years from now and Davey was just babbling incoherently to his care taker?

Very ALR 2011-like.  ALR had the same injury.  I don't know why Danny can't connect the dots and just get the surgery.
No surgery is "routine" when it is on you. I can understand why he is trying to avoid it.

The Nats would never release him. He's far too valuable for that.
Some people's hate is crazy. Is he having a hellish season? Yes. Terrible. Still, he has too much potential to write off. Our organization has a lot to gain if he can get back on track.

That'll be after Rendon goes 0-4 a couple games in a row and they send him down.

So, not soon.

if he has a bum shoulder and won't get it fixed, it stops being a bad/injured season and starts becoming a new normal at some point.

Precisely.  This is the player he is with his injured shoulder.
