Got four years?

I'm afraid I may not have that much time left.   :)

Perhaps he's the most qualified applicant so far.
He definitely isn't did you see his work with the Colts?

I'm pretty sure that Peyton Manning was more or less the coach of the Colts when Caldwell was there.

^Exactly my point, Caldwell sucks as a head coach.

Hell, if we're being honest about it, Peyton is probably more or less the offensive coordinator of the Broncos.

Yep Cleveland is much better - hire a staff, tell them it's long term, trade away starting running back, saddle them with crap at QB, then fire them for not winning
Getting a first round pick for the second worst RB in football is a brilliant move. I mean, even the blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while.

Pretty sure Peyton is a the head coach and Fox is a glorified defensive play caller.

The idea of Ken Whisenhunt is growing on me. Probably won't even get interviewed but hiring him and getting Horton as DC would be a solid move. More resources in DC and he would wear Alfred Morris out and give RGIII a solid, structured system.

Whisenhunt is a good coach. He got screwed at the end of his tenure in Arizona by being forced to try to work with Derek Anderson and John "I can't stick on a roster as a third stringer this year for more than a couple weeks at a time" Skelton as his QBs. Of course those teams sucked. Horton is a really good DC too. Both of them together would be a great deal for some team. Alas, Snyder will freak it up.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/football-insider/wp/2013/12/30/six-shanahan-assistants-remain-employed-for-now/

We kept Haslett?!?!?!?

And I want the OC of Seattle or San Francisco
They kept a few of the assistants under contract. The new coach will then be expected to sort them out. Wouldn't be a surprise if any of them other than McVay or Morris was retained.

Unless that coaching staff expected to have more than one season to build a winning team. Richardson was a bust and the fact that they got a first round pick for him is an incredible haul.

which is great for the team- the staff, on the other hand, won't be around for the pick- they were told to build for the future then fired after one year.

Vegas odds have Whisenhunt as the favorite. Hopefully they have inside information because I would be very happy with that hire if he hired Ray Horton or another top DC.

without a real GM, I could care less about the coach. Coaching takes a crap load of time and effort. Evaluating talent takes a crap load of time and effort. Ideally, a coach wants to win every year. Ideally a GM has a long view and cares about being good now and in the future. I think a team is best served by dividing the roles, and I don't think Allen has ever really been a true GM (he was a cap specialist under Gruden and the same under shanny)

Yep.

There might be hybrids that are possible (a player/personnel guy and a head coach that both report to the GM), but I would not ever give the head coach personnel control. Not unless his name was Belichick.

I don't think Redskins One has left the tarmac during the search process. That's a good thing.

I think we knew that. Cousins is a backup. He might be a starter on a team with a lot of talent. But Griffin is the guy. Now he needs to commit to becoming a better passer

Jim Caldwell interviewing tomorrow.  :?  Now that Smith was hired by Tampa hopefully this is just to satisfy the Rooney rule.
