Sveum's response is the only thing I've heard coming out of the Cubs' side that makes any sense to me. That's all you can say when you're on the other side of it. As good as the Nats played, the Cubs made it way easy in the last two games - 15 walks and 2 errors to go with the 25 hits the Nats pounded out. With 25 hits and all the homers, we were going to score our share, but 15 walks don't help.
As for the stealing signs thing, I don't begrudge the announcers that - they're paid professionals trying to keep a fanbase engaged (and most importantly, watching) through an awful season. They can't really sit there and say "Gee, the Nats are taking our crapbag pitchers to town tonight, just like they did last night and the night before. I wish our pitching staff didn't suck so hard." They've got to find some lipstick to put on that pig, no matter how ridiculous it sounds.
