No, I need people to stop talking about Joel freaking Hanrahan. He was the single most exasperating player I've ever rooted for ever. He was root canal here. Listening to people talk it's like he was Mo frickin Rivera when he was here and we traded him away for fun. Revisionist history combined with EMO douchebaggery is freaking annoying.

He was closer to Wily Mo Frickin Pena

If I hear one more word about Joel freaking Hanrahan, I'm going to have a fit. He SUCKED here. Get it, he freakING SUCKED HERE. He's doing better now, good for him, who gives a crap. Trading him at the time was a NO BRAINER. He has no bearing on and no resemblance whatsoever to Drew Storen and the current situation now. None, zero, zilch, nada.

Henry Rodriguez is the new Joel Hanrahan :D

Pretty much, though Hrod's stuff is way nastier and I don't really think his problem is between his ears like Gas Can Hanrahan. Hanrahan had a million dollar arm and a 10 cent head, HRod I think is all about mechanics (or lack thereof) and "figuring it out" at this point ... at least, that's the way I see it.

Not trying to be a jerk, but I have no idea what UZR is.
Isn't is some kind of submachine gun that the Isralies use?

Seems like the Nats are all about shedding money and signing young talent.  If you constantly "build for the future" when do you start winning championships?

Sooner than if you never build for the future.

Marquis for a SS playing A ball?  I don't doubt that he's a good prospect but we could have gotten more

At this rate we will trade both Zim's, Strasburg, and Harper to the Phillies for 2 prospects and a little cash.

It's not like Marquis was in anybody's future rotation. He had a good first half, but getting something for him is better than having a marginally better record this year.

I didn't realize that Hairston and Marquis were such integral core components of our next championship club.

Honestly, how could anyone possibly object to getting rid of the vets we have whose contracts are up at the end of the season, if we can get something with potential future value?     It's a complete no-brainer to me.  And if we can make another deal - and yes, this may mean either Clippard or Storen - to improve the club further, than by all means do it.  It's not like we're breaking up the '24 Nats.

Not really, Marquis isn't worth much.

You gotta wonder what's going to happen with Lombo.

If the club believes in Desmond, then what place is there for him?

The most comparable player to Denard Span statistically is Jacoby Ellsbury.  I'm sorry guys, this is not worth trading Tyler Clippard and certainly not Drew Storen for.  There is some weird obsession with a leadoff hitting CF in D.C., when we could simply use Lombo as the leadoff man for many years to come without trading away our bullpen.  We saw how this worked out last time when we gave away a pitcher who wound up being an All-Star for a headcase in Nyjer and now a terrible pitcher in Burnett.  We need to be careful.

Hunh? Jacoby Ellsbury is an amazing player and I would trade Nyjer, Storen, AND Clippard for him.

What did the D-Backs want for Upton?  Could Marquis not have been packaged with someone to get the deal done?

I understand what you're saying, Tom, and I couldn't disagree more. I'm disguisted with this organization.  They have essetially signalled that they are discarding the remainder of the season, with a third yet to play. They are going to lose much of the fanbase they have painstakingly built. And for what? To save two months of Marquis salary? They are treating their fans like garbage.

If we trade either Clippard or Storen we need big league talent not more A or AA prospects that we will trade in 3-4 years.  Perhaps I should by Cheifs season tickets?
