Perhaps I should by Cheifs season tickets?

You'd have a better bet of seeing good baseball sooner.

What did the D-Backs want for Upton?  Could Marquis not have been packaged with someone to get the deal done?

HAHA! surely you jest? Justin upton isn't going anywhere. and even if he was, the only package associated with Marquis to het him would have to include Harper.

I wonder if we can get involved with the Angels involving Clippard. They're looking for a right handed 6/7th inning guy. Clippard is a lot more than that. They'd be really tough to beat late in games with Clippard, Downs, and Walden. Now that Texas took Uyehara, and they are competing directly with them, it's something we should look at.

Maybe Bourjos and a little more.

Definitely prefer Span, but not at the expense of Storen.

Hunh? Jacoby Ellsbury is an amazing player and I would trade Nyjer, Storen, AND Clippard for him.

My lord NatsSince '05 is a joke. Dude has no clue.

Sure, if we package Marquis with Harper and Zimmerman.

I understand what you're saying, Tom, and I couldn't disagree more. I'm disguisted with this organization.  They have essetially signalled that they are discarding the remainder of the season, with a third yet to play. They are going to lose much of the fanbase they have painstakingly built. And for what? To save two months of Marquis salary? They are treating their fans like garbage.

Ray, the season is shot anyway.  News flash, we're not going to make the playoffs in 2011.

One of the reasons a team like the Nats signs aging vets for a season or two is that sometimes you get value for them before the trade deadline, and I'm glad to see Rizzo's cashing in that value.

This also means we will likely see Milone or Peacock sooner, rather than later this season.

Fixed.

What, a prospect that doesn't make it?  Shocking.

Since some of them don't succeed, maybe they need more, not fewer, of them in order to get more major league talent out of the pool.  Just a thought.

I don't understand where this Drew Storen idea is coming from. This guy is 23 years old. IMO he is already proven to be a very good major league closer with 5 more years (i believe) of control. Why would we possibly trade this guy for anyone?? He is untouchable! Some people may say "just a reliever, just a closer" well so is Mo Rivera and he was a cornerstone to a dynasty. The idea of getting rid of this guy for a 27 yr old .300 hitting CF is absurd. absolutely mind-blowing to me. Home-grown star that wants to stay.... If we trade Storen for anyone I will be furious. If it's for Span I might not be a fan any more. I've seen the redskins do a LOTTT of moves that have killed me inside, but they have never traded a 23 yr old star. This would be unforgivable.

Oh, also i think we might have really killed Milwaukee in this trade... I like Hairston but this guy we got sounds like an absolute steal. Great trade from Rizzo and the guys. Marquis probably deserved more but we had to dump him.

This guy is a short stop who hits like crazy. It's a great trade, and I'm a huge Marquis fan.

Marquis for a SS playing A ball?  I don't doubt that he's a good prospect but we could have gotten more

Of course we could have received more in return if the Nats had picked up a significant portion of Marquis remaining salary.  Saving $2.5 million was the primary motivation for this trade.

If he finished the season, we would have received no one. He was not projected as a Type A or B free agent, so the Nats could not afford to be too picky in this case.

Rizzo isn't that stupid...I hope
That would cripple us and put our hope solely on Desmond (who I'm losing confidence in by the minute).

F that.

I am a Span fan. But Storen, Lombo, and Bernie?

Time to hang up the phone.

Just because they got raped last year doesn't mean they get to rape us this year.

Plus we can sign them if they go to FA if there is a need. See Livo , Stanton

Tom, I don't equate not making the playoffs with season shot.  I never thought for a moment that we would make the playoffs. And I couldn't care less.  I was excited by the prospect that we might end up a few games over .500.  That was enough for me, for this year.   They seem now to have taken away that hope.

if we do Storen-Span my head will explode.Throw in Bernie and Lombo I might have to find a new team. I watched 50+ twins games last year (bet on them to win division) and this guy is nothing special. DONT TRADE DREW
