Probably means he's not looking for another contract after this one is up.

Boras is often dropped after guys are ready to settle in for the rest of their career.

probably, he may also not share his endorsement money or get an agent more focused on endorsements now that he has a mega-contract

So about the Cubs - Silva gets bombed and then the team has a fight in the dugout.

http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/03/02/the-cubs-are-in-midseason-form-they-have-a-fight-in-the-dugout/

Almost feel bad for them.   Then I remember their idiotic fans coming the Nats Park.  And it makes me happy that they'll have another terrible year.

Wow. With the new professional-seeming Nats and a Cubs team that's already fighting in the dugout, maybe we won't be the butt of any baseball jokes this year.

Don't forget the Mets. It was so weird in the ST games against them Mets fans are usually loud nit-wits, but they seemed quite subdued this year and depressed. I talked to several of their fans and they feel they are the butt of everyone's jokes right now. They think the 2011 Mets are going to be like the 2009 Nationals.

It was almost sad.

Now if we can only get the Phillies to implode...

The Astros starting catcher hurt his knee.  Maybe they need a good defensive catcher with veteran leadership qualities who knows how to handle a pitching staff to fill in while their primary guy heals up.

I'm watching Oliver Perez on MLBN now.  They're playing the half o fthe Cards that didn't play the Nats today.

Perez has had 3 rockets hit off him already.  One was an out to Willie H in CF, one was a foul, and one was a double to left center.  NOw Holliday is up to bat.

Dumbass Wilpons.  We're so better than the Mets this eyar.

Yankees also have a catcher go down.

You hear that Rizzo?  That's opportunity knocking.  Pudge would fit in well next to all those other future HOFers there and Marquis would feel right at home, too, in NY.

You mean they might be forced to call up the best hitter in the minors or the guy who he is blocking?

Do they really want Montero as a backup in the majors?

No, I'd let him start.  At worst, alternate him and Jorge at DH and catcher.

That is unfortunate about Jason Castro. I was looking forward to watching him.

You mean a good defensive catcher with veteran leadership qualities who played for the Astros before joining the Nationals?

Crap I put this in the 2010 section so I'm pasting it in 2011:

http://www.masnsports.com/byron_kerr/2011/03/phillies-preview-utley-injury-early-concern.html

Here's an article on the Phillies from Byron Kerr.  Talks about Dominic Brown going 0-9 so far this spring with 6 strikeouts which truly warms my heart.  Also talks about a potential chronic knee issue for Utley.

The Phils may be ripe for a letdown this season despite the 4 aces.  I thought they'd easily win 95+ but now I"m not quite as sure.  Rollins, Utley, and Ramirez are all showing signs of age and Howard can't do it by himself.
Ramirez? On the Phils? Is that Ibañez + Ruíz = Ramirez?

Keep in mind that Posada was a back up for Girardi for the first year or so.

The Phils are going to have some offensive problems this year, but with that staff, they can score 1-2 runs per game and win most of them.   I'm still amazed they didn't do anything to improve the pen.  Maybe at some point you'll see them trade for Joe Nathan or someone like that?

I heard one guy on MLB network yesterday say that if everyone on that team has a career average year, they'll win 95-100 games.

Ha - no I should have capitalized all of Bowden Draft Picks because they should be a special designation - BDP.

Josh Smoker, LHP (BDP)
Chris Marrero 1B (BDP)
Colton Willems ?HP (BDP, ret.)
