Only 33 with 31 starts.  About 220 innings.  0.6 UZR, 4.6 UZR/150.  09, in the new Yankee Stadium, is the only negative UZR he's put up in LF.

Yeah, he's gassed out, where as Manny just doesn't care.

Damon can still run. He probably can run the ball in faster than throw it in.

Offseason winners.  The A's are listed, Grant Balfour is listed, Hammer is not.

See the Padres are close to signing Jorge Cantu to possibly
<------------
with Brad Hawpe at first.  Why didn't anyone around here suggest that the Nats could
<------------
instead of signing a guy who can't hit lefties?

Oh, wait.

Padres Agree To Sign Jorge Cantu
By Mike Axisa [January 24 at 9:40pm CST]
The Padres and Jorge Cantu have agreed to terms on a Major League contract, reports Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports (Twitter links). It's a one-year deal according to MLB.com's Corey Brock and it's worth $850K, according to Marty Caswell of XX 1090 in San Diego (Twitter links). Cantu is represented by the Wasserman Media Group, and the contract is still pending a physical.

Cantu, 29 later this week, hit just .256/.304/.392 in 515 plate appearances for the Marlins and Rangers last season, though he performed at a much more respectable .283/.336/.462 clip from 2008-2009. Capable of playing the corner infield spots and filling in at second in an emergency, he offers some versatility and could platoon with the left-swinging Brad Hawpe at first.

Earlier today we heard that San Diego preferred to sign Cantu to a minor league pact.

Rosenthal is reporting Napoli is being moved to Texas for Frank Francisco.

Good fit for Texas. I guess that Francisco will compete with Dotel for the closer job in Toronto.

So Toronto turned Vernon Wells into Juan Rivera and Frank Francisco?

Really like Toronto's pitching staff. They're probably not a playoff team, but they'll be pretty good.

That is a terrible trade - The blue Jays are ridiculous.

A closer for a catcher/1B with power? Hate it.

Must like Snider, Arencibia and Lind a lot to trade Napoli.

I thought you were referring to the Vernon Wells trade as a whole as terrible for Toronto.

No I think they blew it with trading Napoli - before it was skewed towards Toronto.

I think they should tried to move Rivera instead.

Napoli is a heck of a fit for Texas.  I'm not that big of a Frankie Francisco fan.  If you told me Engel Beltre, I'd say just award the exec of the year ttrophy to Anthopoulos.  I'm guessing Toronto is just picking up competent bullpen arms and Farrell willl determine who gets the save based on the situation (a/k/a closer by committee).  rauch / dotel / frasor and now Francisco have all been closers with streaks of effectiveness.

Texas now wins the trade. The Blue Jays just can't shake ineptitude. There's no one ept in Canada.

I really don't get why Napoli doesn't carry more trade value, especially in the AL.

I can maybe see why the LAA and the BJs would not want to deal with the Red Sox, but their interest in him was widely reported.  I don't get why the sell lows.  It almost seems like first Reagins, then Anthanopoulos, were trying to place him with a team that had a need for him so that he would not get traded to a rival. Of course, Reagins messed that one up, but he really wants in on The Contest.

Agreed.  Holy hell!  What is Anthopoulos thinking trading someone as useful as Napoli for a freaking dime-a-dozen reliever!?

Houston does something much smarter than trading Wandy Rodriguez.  They gave him a 3 year extension.

MLBTR:
Quote
strong words from Michael Young...

"I've kept a low profile out of respect for the team, the coaching staff, my family and the fans because I didn't want to put anybody on an unnecessary roller-coaster. Now, I think it's important to address the inaccurate portrayal that is being painted. The suggestion that I've simply had a change of heart and asked for a trade is a manipulation of the truth."

"I want to be traded because I've been misled and manipulated and I'm sick of it."

Young wouldn't elaborate when asked how he was "misled and manipulated," instead saying it "would be unproductive for everybody, particularly my teammates and coaches. I know the truth and Jon Daniels knows the truth and I will sleep well."

 Wow.

STFU and DH.  That's all  you are good for.  You stink in the field, and you are overpaid for how you hit.  Be grateful, old man, and quite your whining.  This is from a former fan of yours.  You are the definition of past expiration date.

Umm... Do you have Young in a AL fantasy league?
