thanks DC Fan for posting that and yeah spidernat I agree the numbers continune to change (no surprise)

9 years/$180 won't get it done, that's a very low number (figuratively speaking).  I like offering the extra year, but we'd have to spend somewhere in the $190's if we really want him.

Hello Boston  :'(

Cafardo failed to mention how important things like "no-trades" and "opt-outs" would be to Tex.  erhaps he's wrestling over that as well?

The Boston Globe has a kick arsed sports section which makes tracking this stuff fairly easy.

Yep, that extra year screws things up. If you're going the extra year then the Nats should've bumped the average up accordingly.  Having a lower average annual salary makes his decision an easy one.

And the warehouse! Never forget they'll always have a warehouse.

It's needed to store a quarter-century worth of broken dreams...

for the most part i am very happy with our offer and the effort shown by our thinking tank AND owner . . .

but would love to see us beat their offer all around, giving him $22-23 million a year as opposed to the $21.25 million they are reportedly offering.

Come on, buck up and admit it: you aren't going to be happy. You'll be waving the "Lerners are Cheap" flag within two weeks.

The Globe is great, but reading ALL of these stories have a lot of supposition in them with very little FACT. Boston is not going 10 years..Boston might go 8 - 185..but in my mind that is it and in my mind and from what I know the Nats offer is bigger years and cash. This might be an interesting evening

Loverro is hedging now on his Tex to Boston proclamation, referring to the Atlanta / Dodgers fiasco.

any word on opt outs and no trade clauses being in the mix here - in other words, is Washington offering those things but boston is not?

All I've been doing the past week is saying I'm impressed with the way they have handled things.  So I shouldn't catch heat for this.  They have been cheap in the past and nothing will prove that otherwise.  They can get better for the future and this is a sign that they may be willing to spend after all.

At the same time though, if they up the offer just a bit more, he could land here, that's all I'm saying.

Loverro says it's a possibility the Yankees are lurking, particularly if the Red Sox think they have a deal secured. Just speculation.

Loverro is questioning the mental state of Teixeira if he were to sign with the Nats or O's for a little more money, vs. Boston.  Thanks, Thom.

I highly doubt it's about just money at this point

Loverro laughing at Angelos, who might be humiliated if Tex goes to the Nats, but on the other hand profit via MASN.

or pulled any of that drama queen media BS the Sox did about a week ago.

Nothing wrong with calling Boras' bluff, although not upsetting him could help us come June with Strasburg, perhaps that's why we didn't set demands or threaten to pull our offer, etc...

I think XM booked Loverro following his post this morning, thinking he knew something.  He still hasn't discussed what those "indications" were, and he isn't going to.
