That's because Jason Segel is comedy gold. People focus on
<----------------
but Jason Segel is the one who really carries How I Met Your Mother. His screenplay and vulnerability elevated Sarah Marshall to a whole different level of funny.

marshall is my favorite character of HIMYM no doubt.

Do what now?

Whoops.  Somehow quoted the wrong post.

It was supposed to be this one:

Sadly, actor/actress awards are reserved for older people who should have won before but didn't. It's self-perpetuating. When she's 48 Natalie Portman will win the Oscar she deserved for Black Swan.

Used up the last of my Amazon promo credit on Saw 3D and Resident Evil 247. I think both should be entertaining.

The "Saw" franchise crap-the-bed after "Saw II".  I can only imagine what a turdfest "Saw 3D" is.  What are these Amazon promo credits you speak of?

Depending on what you buy, they give you credits for stuff. Like, I bought my family some CDs for Christmas so now I have $3 in MP3 credits.

Saw 3 was terrible but the only good part of it was Donnie Wahlberg. His scene was badass.

There was a thing where if you tweeted about Amazon Video-on-Demand you got like $5 in free movie cash. However, when I rented Inception, they gave me more credit but it ONLY worked towards purchasing Inception on demand. I didn't know that, so I rented Resident Evil and they charged me. To make it up to me, they gave me $10 in Amazon credit good for anything, so I made out like a bandit. I also bought a dvd and got more credit, so I saw Inception, Scott Pilgrim, and now Saw 3D and Resident Evil for free, plus $6 more free because of Amazon's killer customer service.

Exam

One of the better mind benders I've seen in the past year. Definitely recommend it if willing to watch a film with a no-name cast.

Saw is the greatest horror movie franchise ever. That much is unquestionable. I love horror. And I started to hate Saw after they killed off Jigsaw. Some of the stuff became contrived, etc. But having watched 1-3D in one sitting. Omfg. It's genius. Each movie is so interconnected, and such tiny little bits picked up years later. Freak, just the Saw the original, to the ending of Saw 3D which I won't spoil. If I'm the only one in love with what they did, then I have some skewed views. Compare that to Halloween, Nightmare on Elm, Friday the 13th, where the only thing you were guaranteed is the movie would make less sense and have fewer connections to the last. Saw is as good as any horror movie franchise will ever be when it comes to an intricate, interweaving plot pulled off well when the series ended.

Saw spoilers:

Dr. Gordon's body is on the ground at the end of Saw 2 when you find out it takes place in the same house. How is he alive in Saw 3d?

Possibly the most ridiculous Indian action film ever.  And that's really saying something:

Finally got around to watching Black Dynamite after putting it off for months and months.

One of the funniest movies I've ever seen.

Michael Jai White deserves awards for this role (if not for his acting, at least for the script he co-wrote)... it's a perfect parody/homage to the Blaxploitation films that never misses its mark.

Not sure if I was the intended audience for it... but it's certainly one of my favorites, and a movie that I'll definitely watch over and over again.

Just watched "EXAM".  Not great, not bad.  Having seen "Cube", I knew how it was going to end in the first 10 minutes.

Maybe he was pulling a Jigsaw from the original Saw? :P

Okay, now that I'm in the right thread: I got lucky and saw a midnight screening in Houston a year ago, with a crowd of really sketchy middle-aged hippies who smelled odd, and it was so, so, so much fun. We were all dying of laughter the whole time, and my roommate and I quoted it endlessly for the rest of my college career.

But Black Dynamite, I sell drugs to the community!

It was even better because my roommate was dating this really conservative Christian girl, and whenever they had a fight, he would say "You bet your sweet ass and half a titty" just to confuse her.

Instant classic, I'd put it on par with Airplane! and Top Secret! for sure.

EDIT: Now that I think about it, I think I did use a Black Dynamite avatar here at some point. Let me check my computer. Yep, here it is. It was a year ago, though.

By the way, what's the only thing funnier than Black Dynamite?

Black Dynamite...dubbed into German.

Just watched The King's Speech. It was very good, and I enjoyed it throughout, but I definitely was not as overcome as DPM or Potomac Cannons. I especially don't get the claim that it's an all-time classic people will be studying decades from now. It's not an innovation movie; it's a culmination movie, the product of a rich tradition of a certain way - visual, auditory, theatrical - of making a film. It brings together an all-star cast of the actors and visual icons of that style. In that sense, The King's Speech is a movie which will have a long tradition of being enjoyed and even loved, but mysteriously not called a classic. In other words, it's the English version of The Shawshank Redemption.

Shawshank's not considered a classic?  It's only issue was that it came out the same year as Forrest Gump and Pulp Fiction.

I wouldn't consider King's Speech a classic, it's just the type of movie that I enjoy the most.  I'm not a huge movie guy.  I can't afford it and I'd would rather use my entertainment dollar on other things (like watching whatever the big game is at the time) so being an innovative movie isn't a huge deal to me.  I just thought it was a great movie that did a great job of telling a great story.

The grand high mucky-mucks of art criticism don't really recognize it - not even as much as Pulp Fiction (a movie I hate...). Roger Ebert did include Shawshank in his "Great Movies" list, though.

P.S. Your last line - "a great job of telling a great story" - totally true.

I'm not a huge fan of Pulp Fiction either.

Interesting.  Most grand high mucky-mucks of anything are generally out of touch with that sort of thing.

Enjoyed both Penelope and Wristcutters: A Love Story.  Couple of Netflix instant watch movies and both got 4/5 stars.

Penelope surprised me, but I expected Wristcutters to be good. I bet you'd like The Imagineers.
