picked up points on PHI and BUF.

Ovechkin played about the last 2:30 minutes of that game.

I dont know if he was ice hogging looking for the hat trick, but whatever. I like the desire to play

Great win.  Kolzig was phenomenal.  Backstrom and Ovechkin are a sickkkkkkkk duo.  Sucks big time that Carolina won though.  They are playing very well.  The only way we have any chance of winning the division is beating them both the times we play them in the upcoming weeks.

is that a damn because the lightning suck?

at least it is a game where we know who we want to win.

the flyers could be in trouble. their top scorer, richards, is out indefinitely with a torn hammy

this crap cracks me up

"After scoring, Ovechkin pumped both arms in the air as he taunted the fans, who apparently have not forgiven the 22-year-old Russian for his previous run-ins with former Sabre Daniel Briere. "

personally i liked the hand to the ear from a couple of years ago better, but this was sweet because we won this game

Yeah, it's b/c the Lightning suck. I guess they have some chance w/ Richard out then. Holmqvist has some good games, but he's really inconsistent; very Kolzig-ish.

Backstrom should be the front runner for ROY honors at this point. He's 1 point above Kane for the most by any rookie and 14 above the next guy (Mueller). It'd be insane to have the MVP AND ROY and not make the playoffs. I think it's meant to be that we do.

On Sportscenter last night Barry Melrose said he would only vote for Ovechkin as MVP if the Caps make the playoffs.

ESPN is definitely giving him the LeBron treatment these days. Have you noticed that?

Appropriately so.  It's not every day a guy has a chance to score 60 goals in one season.  AO is going to go down as the greatest of all time.  Gretzky who?

BTW, Steckel is out for 2-3 weeks with a broken finger but Huet will be ready to make the start on Saturday in Boston.

This steckel thing hurts. It gets Laing in there though. Maybe Clark gets back next week. He mentioned possibly this weekend, but that seems optimistic.

Does moving Laich off the second line distrupt any sort of chemistry that was there? Havent seen the last two games.  Maybe BB knows a good defensive center in Hershey.

Looking at shedules, it looks like Philadelphia has about 4 or 5 more "tough" games on their schedule than we do.  Buff has about 3 or 4.  Carolina is about even.

Tampa vs. Philly on HD Net tonight

The Canes just scored 2 goals in 1:30 minutes.   First place is becoming more and more of a distant goal.

Toronto is beating Boston 8-1.. Hopefully Boston goes in the tank from here on out

We are so going to get the crap kicked out of us on Saturday though.  They are going to be uber pissed after losing 2 straight huge blowouts.

It's looking like it's just not meant to be for the Caps. Both Carolina and Philly win 3-2.   :'(

Calling it quits with plenty of games left, including at least 2 versus Carolina? We have games in hand on them and we can catch Philly.

Our chances are bleak at this point.  We are playing well but I just don't think we can overcome our horrendous start to the season.  2.5 games behind Carolina and 2 games behind Philly.  We'd have to win both of our games against Carolina and probably 75-80% of the rest of our games overall.  Possible? Yes, but not very likely.

all the other non SE teams have tougher schedules.  we NEED to take car of busines against FLA, ATL, and TB when the time comes.

a win in BOS on saturday brings them within striking distance. get an early lead on them and it can snowball
