The best I can say about last nights game was that it was uneventful. The Caps just had the puck the whole time. No odd man rushes against and none for the Caps because they had the puck the whole time. Not only should the defense itself be improved, but a good offense will take the pressure off them and result in less penalties against and more penalties for.
In baseball, if you improve your offense, thats really the only benefit. For the Caps it makes all other facets better.
I used to watch Caps games holding my breath waiting to see if the next penalty was going to be for or against them and then hope Olie or Johnson would bail them out if it was against them or hope to at least get a few shots off on the PP if the call was in their favor
