I really want to emphasize I don’t dislike this guy. It's just there are lots of needs improvement things in his game now.

Would rather continue to develop Lord than waste starts on a rental, especially one who won't get much at the deadline.  But as long as he's healthy, Soroka will benefit from play-the-contract.

Josh Bell hamstring placeholder.
Maybe he hopefully goes on the IL and davey in his infinite wisdom will give Ruiz some days DH’ing along with Wood and let Alex Call get more playing time.

Isn't Call nursing an injury? He was limping in several games recently.

I may have not heard correctly but on last nites broadcast I thought someone say Call was taking reps in fielding practice at 2B.

he can develop at AAA, if that's what you are looking for. he's only had 12 starts at AAA, 55 innings. I don't get a sense of progress and development if he keeps on giving up a couple of runners most innings and isn't going more than 70 pitches.

around all star break. That kind of creates a dilemma: what do you do with him if either Tena holds down 3rd or if House is ready?

Rizzo will play the contract and save MLB game money by sending Tena back down...

Nunez . . .

"Playing the contract" makes less sense after the trade deadline.

Not if nobody wants him...
