College Football 2024-25

Temple is a 43.5 point underdog to Oklahoma. +3000 on the money line. Who says no?  I hope they are getting a big payday.

I didn't realize that Temple still had a football team...

It seems an FSU fan promised on Twitter that he would eat dog crap out of a red Solo cup if they lost to Boston College.

Somehow, amazingly, his Twitter account has mysteriously disappeared.

I heard earlier that FSU is going to sue the NCAA to expand the playoff format to 112 teams. :)

Does FSU still want to go to the SEC? How about Conference USA.

I’m going to laugh it this drags out for another year and neither FSU nor Clemson end up in the Big10 or SEC.

I saw that the SEC went 1-3 in competitive games this past weekend.

I think 2–3 is more accurate. Vanderbilt beat VPI by 7 in overtime and Carolina beat ODU by 4 in regulation, so that's two "competitive" games. Texas A&M lost to Notre Dame by 10, Florida got crushed by Miami 41–17 (questionable whether that counts as "competitive"), and LSU lost to Southern Cal by 7. All the other SEC games were mega-blowouts, especially Ole Miss beating Furman 76–0.

At least Saban and Belichek win .  It's really bad when you are a dick and lose.

Michigan playing about as awful a first half as possible against Texas.

Final score from South Bend: Northern Illinois 16, #5 Notre Dame 14.

I don't have any academic or family ties to NIU, nor have I ever been to DeKalb, IL in my life. But you know, if you draw a line dividing Illinois into north and south parts, I'm from north of that line and I've always felt that NIU represents my home state - and my home half of my home state - better than UIUC or Northwestern. They've taken down a number of giants over the years but this is the biggest win in school history.

Edit Texas A&M, the other massively overrated SEC school, must really be ass and Notre Dame blew their chance at the playoffs. Win win

I went to NIU.  DeKalb is basically a craphole in the middle of nowhere, or at least it was 50+ years ago.  I suppose they may have something other than cornfields by now.  Maybe even a Starbucks...

But yes...they have had some great years, followed by terrible years...but this is a huge win...I don't recall one bigger than this...

I grew up a stone's throw from Northwestern but was far too stupid to go there.  I went to their football games with my dad back in the 50's & 60's...

Where are you from originally?

I'm from a working class, Catholic part of Chicago. Everyone in my elementary school was either Polish, Italian, or Irish and they all owned Notre Dame starter jackets. Then I went to high school at a private school on the North Shore, so I'm very familiar with the Northwestern campus and how that temporary stadium on the lakefront looks beautiful now but will be a winter hellscape by the end of the season.

NU has been luring kids in for decades by showing them the lakefront in summer when it is absolutely gorgeous. But a peninsula jutting into Lake Michigan is not where you want to be in January.

Me too...family as well.  Mother grew up near Pulaski Park, Father was the Irish, and Aunts & Uncles Polish and Italian.  My early years were spent at W. Sunnyside & Kimball, and then straight up the road to Skokie until '75.

Who would you rather be:

A. Portland State, 0-2 and your third game is cancelled because there is an outbreak of whopping cough among your players
B. Florida State, 0-3 after starting the season ranked #10 with losses to Georgia Tech and Memphis
