165 MPH winds in the next 12 hours per the NHC. Slowing down some before it hits the coast, but will still be a Cat-3.

Went to the Publix here in Orlando and they were out of milk and eggs in addition to water. And took a while to find a cart. Good to see folks in full panic mode. Worst thing for us is our apartment does not have indoor parking and daughter garage is full. Worry about debris blowing around. Oh well.

why don't you drive up to Skippy's? Only half joking, but pensacola might be  a place to ride it out.

I have a few coworkers in Tampa / St. Pete, they say that gas stations are out of gas. Traffic is jammed.

My folks are evacuating from St Pete - they were going to ride it out until the midday update came in as the wurst of the wurst possible worst-case scenarios.  Apparently they and many thousands of others are going to fill every hotel room in N Florida/GA.

Unfreaking believable, the NHC is now monitoring a disturbance off the coast of Miami for possible tropical development. Currently only a 10% chance of formation in the next 7 days.

Supposed to head northeast looks like. That’s a relief.

Our cars are about fill. I heard someone in Publix talk about filling her tank while we waited for lunch meat. I asked her where she was going to drive in the hurricane?

still some potential wobble. Current forecast is still 10-15’ of surge into the bay.

Milton hasn’t yet weakened and is still heading for the southern edge of Tampa Bay. Prayers as well for those in its path.

As much attention to the storm surge and the potential around Tampa Bay, the rain totals will be in the 10-15 inch range along I-4, so there could be inland river and urban issues, too. FLA emergency responders and planners are probably as experienced as anyone. Hoping folks are prepared and get through this well. If you are still on after this hits and are able, let us know you are OK when you can. Hoping you stay well.
