I don't think so. He was pretty dominant in Japan last year and added 1MPH to his FB. Someone will give him a shot (Philly?)

And think about the cross-promotion opportunities....
my guess is he's blackballed. Whatever owner signs him is going to get ["dealt with harshly"] by the rest of baseball and Manfred. Manfred can't really use "best interest of baseball" against him because it'll put the MLBPA in a spot when they have to grieve it, so I'm guessing the threats are going to be more subtle. Sort of, "we'll do to you and your team what he does to his dates" and then a picture of Kermit being choked.

It would turn off 95 percent of the female fans.  The other 5 percent would be trying to hook up with him.

No to Bellinger.  Had a career year last year, was miserable both seasons prior, and has never been patient enough to keep up his OBP.  This will be yet another Boras contract the buyer regrets.

No way we even get into the bidding, with OF being our deepest long-term position. He's going to make more money than we'd want to lock up at 1st. I'd rather go shorter and grab Hoskins at 1st.

Yamamoto, OTOH, it'd be criminal not to make a token 7 year, $175 million bid. That may not even get a call back from his agent. Probably should offer him the Scherzer 2015 deal.

Yamamoto is the one player in this class I'd overpay for. 8 years, 225 million, player options at year 3 and 4.

Looking forward to having Alex Wood in the rotation this year

Maybe they can get him to go for a deferred money deal. He may not be hip to the downside of that for him.

How about the other Japanese pitcher. Imanaga.  Seems he would be more in the Nats money range.

Imanaga is 5 years older, I think. Also a bit homer prone. I'm not sure his stuff holds up.

There were many gnats in the yard today at our daughters house.  So that made me think of our Nats.

I have noticed in the past on rival boards if somebody wants to be derogatory to our boys they refer to them as gnats.

My friend told me the Yankees announcers used to call them those pesky gnats in the early years.

Barves
Mutts
Filthies.
Gnats

All good banter.

i'm not. There is no way Cole Henry is going to be on a major league roster all season next year. He threw 33 innings last year with a 6.21 ERA. In his 18.1 innings at AA he posted a 10.31 ERA.

I was thinking a team could try and convert him to the bullpen the way we did with Ward.

Yes. Fish is not insulting.  They don’t have enough fans to insult.

he needs to show he can still pitch before anyone worries about where he'll pitch.
