Crews, Dollander, Skenes as 1-3.

Seems like Skenes' stock has to be higher than Dollander's now.

Skenes was way more impressive last night.

Skenes hits too. Is there a little Ohtani / McKay (to give the whole scale) in him, or is the hitting not really figure into his evaluation now? If the hitting is 1st round worthy, then doesn't that cut down on the risk of drafting a pitcher that high?  Or should we just be saying, f'it, Langford or Crews if one is on the board?

I think teams will still largely shy away from true two way sp-hitters.  The future is players who profile as better hitters who have a big fastball and one breaker and can be a reliever as well as hit (what caglianone will likely be)

I don't know.  Hard to lose a good hitter from a game for a one-inning middle-relief appearance.  That's a really hard management task when the dude's a reliever.

deleted - here's the article though https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2023/03/31/lsu-tennessee-baseball-top-draft-prospects/

Quote
Before the game, a scout told me seeing Paul Skenes + Chase Dollander trade innings would help him see if there is at least some was recency bias with Skenes.

After the game: “Well there’s no recency bias. ... He’s the real freaking deal.”

seems like either Skenes or Crews have the potential to have a Strasburg/Harper impact.

Brody Brecht (potential top 15 pick next year) dealing on big 10 network right now vs MD.  Hitting 98 60 pitches in.  4 innings, all but 2 outs by k

What are the injury concerns with Skenes? Just that he's a pitcher who throws triple digits?

That would seem to be the main one. Some might have thoughts on his delivery

seemed pretty effortless, almost Max-like, from what I saw last night. Not violent at all for a guy who throws like that. I was surprised that he threw 107 pitches though.

Haven’t been that excited about a college pitching prospect since…well since AJ Puk!  I am sure this guys are great but it’s so hard for them to keep it up on professional ball. Not many Strasburgs or Harpers make the climb so fast.

Or maybe this is the year of the generational phenom. Wembayana. Bedard. And now these baseball guys.

Crews would be on the roster by September.

maybe on the merits, but not for team control. He will be held back until Woods is ready

The mariners got like the 29th pick overall for having Julio win Al Roy.  Start crews at a+, finish at aa, and start 2024 in the show in hopes of the extra pick

What was Harper's path? Sign in 2010, majors in 2012? He could be faster, but I suspect 8/24 is fast but realistic.

Just a pitcher who is routinely pumping triple digits before he can legally drink.

And more than 100 pitches in his last start.
